Matt Kuchar using his  45" belly putter anchored against his forearm instead of belly will still be ok.

I really don't understand some of the styles that have been deemed legal. If they are going ban anchoring the putter then they should ban any style where putter is anchored. Like you said Kuchar anchors his putter against his forearm. The keyword to me is anchors. To me that is an anchored putting style and should be banned just like anchoring the putter to the upper torso. Anyone agree or disagree?

Power's that be said per below.  As said before key is directly (and therefore effectively indirectly per official video) when talking anchoring.  In the cauldron of highest level competition less chance of yips they think. Maybe holding against the arm was the only way they could see not make the design redundant straight away which I suspect is what they want ...Interesting debate though:

    14-1b Anchoring the Club

In making a stroke, the player must not anchor the club, either “directly” or by use of an “anchor point.”

Note 1: The club is anchored “directly” when the player intentionally holds the club or a gripping hand in contact with any part of his body, except that the player may hold the club or a gripping hand against a hand or forearm.

Note 2: An “anchor point” exists when the player intentionally holds a forearm in contact with any part of his body to establish a gripping hand as a stable point around which the other hand may swing the club.

Rule 14-1b will not alter current equipment rules and allows for the continued use of all conforming golf clubs, including belly-length and long putters, provided such clubs are not anchored during a stroke. The new Rule narrowly targets only a few types of strokes, while preserving a golfer’s ability to play a wide variety of strokes in his or her individual style.

On a lighter note, who wants to look like a dork on a course with a Giraffe-like club sticking out their bag?

    LOL good point.

LOL so true. The closest I got to a Max ball was when I had my swing videoed, and on the replay could slow it down frame by frame - I should have dipped my ball in black paint to simulate WGT.

The long putter is not banned but the way the top pros use it is. against the chest as an anchoring stroke will be prohibited as all the top pros who use the long putter do. Case in point is Adam Scott.

Oi....  Scott will be one player that has used it...lol

How many of the last Major Winners have used the Long Putter?

Having the Putter Anchored to your body causes a Pendalum affect that can be an unfair advantage to others, because it gets rid of the (not sure how to say this), maybe... gets rid of the human element of a putt, in relation to hand and wrist movement.

    -Roger

Edit.....   The Us Tour has not banned it....   you might get the situation that most of the world it's banned, but the Pga Tour... you will still be able to use it......lol
