Yeah, he was brilliant. Made Tony Soprano a very complex character...one where you're never sure what he's gonna do next and therefore be quite frightened of and then other times showing some serious vulnerability...some of those therapy sessions with Loraaine Bracco are incredible. I've watched all 86 episodes....twice. It's impossible to imagine anyone else being Tony. Absolutely a major loss.

    Sad day ---

Vince Flynn ... writer of one of my favorite series of books .. Mitch Rapp - the ultimate anti - terrorist specialist.  Biggest bad azz ever.

And my fellow North Jersey buddy Mr. Gandolfini.  Lots of the Soprano's filmed near my house .. and I have frequented the real "Bada Bing" (i.e. Satin Dolls) many times.   So sad ....

So who's going to run the family in North Jersey now ???   Should I dust off my resume ???

we could call you "Nada Ding"

in all seriousness.. 51 yrs old........so young and a very talented actor.

The Sopranos was one of the US series i actually like next to The Sreets of San Fransisco, Hill Street Blues, Kojak and of course Taxi.

    And Vince Flynn  1966 - 2013

Vince Flynn too! Wow, I didn't know this. I was really hoping he was going to recover. For those of you readers out there who are into really good CIA/ assassin fiction novels I urge you to read this series of books.

Vince was a great writer and I've read his books many times over. Just two nights ago I recommended this series of books to my fellow cc member.

    Very sad.

    MC

Then some...Great character actor who stole the show with small roles in larger films.

Can't mention The Wire without mentioning OZ. HBO was on a run of tremendous series' that started with The Sopranos.  Good stuff. :-)
