    KittyWumpus:
Also, missed ding shots with all clubs seemed to have greater deviance with the Callaways. Might be my imagination.

Are you comparing them to those 71 Nikes? If you are, I disagree on the deviation. I find missed hits with the better balls hurt more but that might also be the difference between the L43 and L33 Callaways that I use.

Now I need to compare with those Callaways (sigh).

The most major deviation I notice is when using the L81 G20 3W. On hole 11 RSG no wind, a ding will provide a "circle of deviation" for me of about 7yds (extreme), and tends more toward the right oddly enough (this is with a fbs, just <1/2 avatar back from full choked shot for that hole). With the L43/legend Callaway, a missed ding with a tiny bit of light blue between ding and hit can result in up to 14yds deviation for me; with the L71 Nike, I get about 12yds. Either way, miss a little early, and it heads for the bunker, lol.

If you really want to see a deviation difference, try the GI-SD ball. You can get away with murder with that.  LOL

1- KNOW your carry ydgs and aim for humps.   Ydgs change depending on which spin combination you use.  Once learned, you can get close to hitting those humps by using to carry to a hump or ts to kill carry to land on a hump.

2- Real golf vs gamer golf.  Backspin creates lift, which increases carry by elevating trajectory, thereby killing rollout.  Advantageous when clearing lakes and bunkers and/or in wet conditions.

3- Ball combos are important.  Cally i(s) will spin more than the (z), which can change your need to apply spin, as well as, which spin.  i(z) seems to benefit from a little topspin most times whereas i(s) benefits more from backspin.

4- And, the one thing I haven't seen mentioned by the gamers, but golfers know.  When facing crosswinds, lower trajectories are less affected by wind.  Think about that one.  If you NEED to hit a fairway (Oly comes to mind), sometimes it's best to sacrifice distance to ensure hitting approaches from the shorter grass.

    It's not rocket science.

Cross winds = 1 dot top or FBS depending on the approach shot desired.

Tailwind = FBS for maximum carry (a few exception holes)

Headwind = 1 dot BS to cut the low level flow stream

Of course, it depends on the slope of the green and the surface area's intended target.

IMHO go with YJ that one I think.  Top balls great but miss with too much spin an dthe full attributes shine (still) leading to more deviation.  Great balls still just something to be aware of.

Sounds more like the L85 R11S 3 wood than I remembered the G20. I was often close but there was a similar circle and one or twice that dinged in the fringe WTF.  In fairness to WGT walking out at RSG in RL (my home patch) there is no such thing as zero wind at RSG. I digress a little but consider that L85 R11 option (not checked your level) as it sticks better than the G20.  Even that short par 3 RSG zero wind; L90 R11 irons; I could expect up to a max 6 feet "deviation" dinged shots although usually closer.  I have not really compared the HL X distance Nike to spin option's but convince myself it may suffer less..........maybe lol......admittedly I have the R11 irons and they spin way enough.

Sometimes the mind still though really is a thing even here as IRL.  Survey of 100 people asked to try BAKED BEANS. 100 random people asked which one was Heinz (huge in UK OK). 98% said would pay extra for Heinz after answering correctly that one was in fact Heinz.  They agreed that is why they pay they extra and would continue to do so over the other OBVIOUSLY lesser brand - BOTH were Heinz...and they advertising don't suck us in:)
