As far as I recall, the original meter didn't have "original" written on it. It was what it was. Kind of like Coke. When it went from Coke to Classic Coke it was no longer classic.

Any ideas on what the MM stands for in front of ORIGINAL?

Possibly the MM is giving credit to the original designer of the meter?

I don't believe it is lettering at all, but rather a small design of a "ruler" indicating it is the original "meter".

Doesn't bother me in the slightest...in fact been using the letters as a "quasi shotpal"...shot pall annoyed me with the lower scales...this suits me fine:)

I too like using it as a marker, especially useful getting a score down on a  CTTH course.

Doesn't  original mean as it always was.

Now Original  means like it used to be, with a little extra.
