Just like in the pros, some players elect to carry four and five wedges and get by fine without the 3 iron

I agree.  Be nice if you could amend all the in-game irons but especially swap the 3i for a hybrid.

WGT won't split the iron sets. You can swap woods for wedges though.

In real golf, I don't carry a 3 or 4 iron.  I have a driver, 3 wood, 3 hybrid, 5-9 irons, pw, 4 other wedges and a putter.  Rules of golf state 14 clubs max ... nothing said about what 14 clubs you have to carry.

I've read that this is something WGT may do ... just don't expect it to happen soon.

One day if WGT ever are big enough to dictate anything this may be a fun idea swapping clubs around.  I am sure the extra choice could only be a good thing even if on this I like my 3 iron, whilst IRL it's in a ditch:)

As it stands anything that might make the game easier is not going to happen, neither would it be wanted by most.  Moreover, I doubt TM would allow it preferring as all to subliminally buy the R1 driver and so on IRL because of here.

I agree, I would like to swap out an iron as I can do in real golf. For me in real golf I don't carry a 3W, prefer a 2I instead. But the fact is you can.

And I think this is the reason - whether it is contractual from the club manufacturers or as Jim says, subliminally trying for us to buy that next upgrade.(and contractual because why would a company want you to swap their club to use a competitors - and often players may "replicate" their real clubs for their virtual clubs).

So regardless of the real reason, I do not see this changing any time soon.

Indeed we should be able to have the ability to swap out any club, just like in real life....

WGT explained a few years back that the irons and coded as a set, not individually, in order to remove a club, they'd then have to build/code individual irons for all the sets.

There's no concern of mixing/matching, otherwise you'd be stuck with all Pings say, and not allowed to use Cleve wedges.

I've never heard mention that WGT was even considering change.

There are 32 iron sets available with 8 clubs in each so 256 clubs. Can somebody work out the possible combinations with all the other clubs? I sure as hell can't. I guess WGT keep it the way it is for simplicity. :-)
