I dont know if you could implement this, but if you could It would make the game much more challenging once again and without having to add more deviations or wtf shots.

I took this idea from the British Open and the fact most of the players were saying the fairways were just as fast as the greens, if not faster in places.  I dont know if this would be possible but could you tweak the fairways at RSG and St. Andrews so instead of playing normal, they are in fact the same speed as championship greens so when ball hits them they bounce and roll for miles just like in the open. If programming this is too difficult, at present there's many places (RSG 7 for example) where you might hit a bump in fairway and ball then bounces forward loads, could you not tweak the landing zone of our balls so It replicates hitting a bump more often (even if fairway is flat) and giving us a massive kick forward.  This would bring the rough into play much more and you might have to think about drives more often and even check down to wood, 3 iron.

Holes where It would make them much more difficult with added roll or fairway's like champ greens:

    RSG:  Hole 2, 4, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16, 18

    St Andrews: 2, 4, 6, 7, 12, 13, 15, 17,

Ironic you bring this up, Chris. Watching that Open and those conditions made me think that I wouldn't put it past WGT to do exactly what you suggest only without saying anything to anybody.

What makes me think this is the incidence of shots hitting pins and rocketing off remarkably increased after Tiger Woods' shot at the US Open caromed off that pin into the water. Easy for WGT to point to the real thing when it gets talked (ranted?)  about here.  :-)

They could just alter the shade of colour, pale for fast and verdant for slow.

i think its just fine.... rather have my shot vary a few yards ,,, than be totaly unpredictable...

amazed the OP would be the one with the idea.... i can already see the blog RANT now...

MY BALLS ROLL Too FARRR .... SOME how ,,some way... his fairway's would be rigged while ALL others remained consistant...

or ..someone has a NOROLL CHEET CODE ... bla bla bla...

    pass....

Let's have a WGT UK open (to all) tournament, one round at Andy and one at George.100 cred entry fee with prizes. But... everyone entered uses free balls for the 2 rounds, not the normal WGT spuds, 3 dots of feel and no other attributes would be fine, provided by WGT.

Wow, is this a new Chris? Sorry I had to laugh as the irony of one of the more vocal VEM haters coming up with a suggestion where one unknown factor would just be replaced with another unknown factor.

But actually not a bad idea, and anyone would has played a links course knows the unpredictibility of links fairways with all the undulations - especially when the UK has a dry spell (yes it does happen lol).

Likewise I would be happy to have the wind meter axed - and have only a "wind condition" (low/moderate/heavy) and the winds blow within that set range.

Both ideas would introduce randomness, but IMO is better than the laws of physics being totally defied with some VEM moments.and both should make the game tougher and a little more realistic.

Whether the programming changes are viable is another thing, and probably would entail significant changes deeming it a non starter.

Would love to know how it would cost WGT money.  I see it as a money maker when a ball takes unpredictable twists and turns.  Even when it misses a hazard like water, it makes the game harder........inducing more hits on a ball.  More hits=more $$.
