Would love to know how it would cost WGT money.

I think he means the time it would take programmers to completely re-program the game would be too high a cost/benefit ratio.

As it is WGT are advertising for programmers and it is obvious that producing equipment would have a greater return (certainly short to medium term - even long term the benefit would be minimal) than something that already exists (ie not re-writing an existing program).

Thats why I don't think it would happen.

All wgt would have to do to make the game harder is make the meter speed on all drivers the fastest it could possibly be. That way a lot of us would sometimes use 3woods and irons to tee off just like they did in the open. Risk v reward. The R1 and R11's are just too easy to hit fairways.

Yes been asking for ages to fasten the meter speed on drivers, a risk reward for using driver, but what do wgt do, give us R1 with the slowest meter possible.

Lowering spin on long irons would make game tougher too without deviations.  Give us much more roll out and have to think more on approaches rather than land 3 iron like a wedge

All you have to do is switch from high end GB's to the free ball. The meter will be much faster and the long irons won't stick like darts. WGT doesn't have to change anything, you can change the games you play for yourself if that's what you really want.

I play the G20's and only the mid level Callay balls because I want the ball to roll out some and look like a real golf shot. I can't compete at the highest level but the game looks a hell of a lot more real to me than R11's and Nike balls.

It's our game to play any way we want. Play it the way you want it to be.

Agreed, and like the risk/reward scenario - the way the game should be. In real life I will often use  my 2 iron rather than my driver.

As you say, slower meter R1, Max balls etc, they generate revenue because they make the game much easier.

I also like the reducing spin on long irons to make it harder.

But WGT have said they will not reduce the attributes on equipment - I really can imagine the flood of complaints from unhappy customers if that was done.

So again WGT need to implement something that does not need the entire program to be re-written. It is all great creating equipment (especially finacially)that makes the game easier, but there are ramifications of doing so.Until then all they have is VEM.

Might take my irons in to my pro shop and show him a video of how an R11 3 iron is meant to stop per WGT :).................Not performing as advertised lol

I thought of it to watching the Open.  Can't see it happening...

I understand what you're saying Cerino but competing against everyone else in RG's with starter balls when they're using Nikes is a bit of a miss match.

I know people will say "then just play for fun" but it's in the RG's where i get my kicks. Nowadays it's birdie every hole or you don't win. Kind of disheartening if you get a par at the 1st knowing that you can't win. Everyone wants the game to be made harder to make it fun again. I could still par the 1st but a great approach on a hard hole for birdie brings me back in to it.

the only thrill i get from the game is playing ready go's and challenge matches so its the last thing i would think of to handicap myself but if we were all in the same boat then brilliant.

(yes i could play for fun with starter balls but i'm addicted to building up my credits by playing r.go's or matchplay to eventually achieve enough $$ to purchase something thats not there to buy)

You wouldn't need massive reprogramming, just change the speeds of the fairways where they roll like the Championship greens. Just on the links courses to make them like Muirfield was Sunday. Something like that could make deviations less of a factor which I think is what Chris' point is.
