I was utterly shocked and surprised when I logged into WGT this morning and found |I had jumped up to Legend status.

When I logged off last night I was still at Tour Master and with an average of 64.28.Now my understanding is that to move up I had to play 50 ranked games and have an average of 61. I have probably done the 50 ranked games at Tour Master, but not got the 61 average.

I am sure there must be a reason for this, but I can't work it out so could someone who is cleverer than I am at figures or something explain to me what happened. I really am stunned by this as I don't consider I am ready to be at Legend status.

I am sure I will get some helpful replies to this and they will be very welcome.

    Thank You

    Richard  (Fencer100)

    Hi Richard,

Your avg and number of ranked games are not the only criteria that determine when you graduate to a new tier.  Match play against higher ranked players and tournament performance and maybe other things can also cause you to advance before you think you are ready  :)

My guess is that your outstanding performance in your recent week 29 multiround open did the trick.  Congratulations and enjoy the new view from the tees!

By shooting a 29 and a couple of 30s as a TM? (The only 29 on his score history.) No match play ever against TLs and 2-2 vs Legends. That's a pretty rough move on WGT's part.

Thats just it, I have not beaten any higher tiered players or anything like that. Granted I have had a few (stress few) good scores recently, but hey give me a break, surely not enough to be moved up.

Still now they've done it,so I have to get on with it and start again from the car parks. Not going to let it beat me and will still enjoy it. Am in a good CC with lots of good friends, to play some golf with

yes, but stringing together a 29 and a 30 in the multiround popped him in 2nd place in the tourney.  don't know if this is an auto threshold or if it's evaluated by a human, in any case he's had some top 20 tourney finishes here and there and this one put him in a new performance category.

I agree it is a rough intro to legend tier, and WGT (whether auto criteria or human eval) probably should have waited to see more consistent results (say a couple more top 5s) before moving him.

I suppose that any cut-off that is chosen will invariably promote some players prematurely while others are wondering why it hasn't happened to them yet.

You'll be fine at level 92. A longer hitting driver might be a good buy though.

    hi keith,

you seem have knowledge of wgt rules ,

    so i hope i might ask a question , )

2 days ago i became a tm and my avg was 63,

played a cc tourney -4 and my avg was 62  ...

played another 9 hole with par  and logged out .

To my surprise i realized 2day my avg is now 67...

Do i get minus points for playin par as tm ??

Maybe you got a clue for me   thx in advance Longolito

    Hi Longolito,

I have some knowledge... which can be dangerous :) so others are welcome to chime in.  The way I see it for you:

When you tiered up to tm your avg was reset, so your 1st game as tm (cc tourney at -4 = 31x2) gave you your new 62 average.  (your previous 63 avg as master is thrown out)

Your par 3 hole nation tourney does not count towards your average.

The next 3 tourneys do, so just double your 9 hole scores, add them to your 62, divide by 4 and you get 67.

    +1 Keith!

Please keep in mind that average calculation is from gross scores rather than from +-Par.
