Basically it has very little to do with ones R.A.M. Since this game uses very little depending on how much one has. What ever one has remains a constant percent usage during game play for most computers. Throw a CPU/RAM meter on your computer or use task manager with it selected "always on top" and you will find your cpu fluctuations are much greater than Ram usage as this game primarily runs through cpu and cache.
What game boosters or using msconfig do is allow one to program the shutting down of background running processes that are uneccessary for game play, thereby lessening what is being used by ones cpu. With that the meter has a tendency to stutter less on most systems. Another trick after doing that is to hold the back swing for a few seconds to allow whatever is being processed to finish, thereby having the effect for the most part of lessening meter stutter.
I use a cpu/ram meter running the entire time I play so I can tell when it drops to the lowest percent usage then release my swing with virtually no stutter 99% of the time.
Along with using one of the boosters, one can help the meter by shutting off any auto update programs, especially anti-virus ones.
There are many other things that may effect meter stutter. Take the time to search the forums as there are many excellent suggestions by other players that may be able to help you isolate what combination works best on your computer.
