Hi there, is there two different tournament green speeds? I have been a tour master for the last couple a weeks and thought i was getting used to the tourney speeds, then today i played the Leadbetter Challenge and the greens seemed really fast, the ball seemed to zoom past the hole.
Cheers Peter
A minimum of two (TM and Legend are different speeds, with Legend being the faster of the two).
Personally, I think there's four different Tournament green speeds that you'll encounter at various times, but that's a subject for some debate....
Yes. They are around 8% different. Crazy system but that's the way it is.
Thanks guys (gal) so when do you know what speed of tournament greens it is? :)

Heh, you don't until you putt on them. Better figure it out in a hurry, too. :-)
that tournament is being played at Merion and those greens are a whole different ballgame than other courses...

You actually have to have your wits about you on that course because there are several different speeds, depending on where you're at. Some downhill putts act like Championship greens and some uphill putts act like Very Fast greens. Generally, I found that Merion rewards aggressive putts uphill and rewards respect for the downhill rolls. GL.

This man speaks the truth. Merion is a lovely course and I thank YJ for showing the way.
