When you get a greyed out avatar then WGT has removed your ability to add a new one. If you contact them they'll sort it for you.
If that is the case then i wonder why, thats very strange. I've had the same avatar from september 2011 till april 2013 or so. In april when i logged into wgt after not being online for a few months, the avatar was gone, not thought about adding a new before today though. However im sure that my old avatar did not violate any rules on here, it was the original photo from my passport...
But i already sent the wgt support team an email yesterday when i experienced the problem. Hopefully they will respond to me soon.
