    andyson:

In a nutshell....Every 60 seconds your game client gets a bunch of work from the WGT server in the form of a friend list update.  The bunch of work is done to update your friend list status for every single one of your 160 friends. (that work causes the spikes on my CPU usage as shown on the graphs in the linked post above.)

The way Flash works, it does the friend list work first before it draws on our screen.  If Flash doesn't complete the friend list work in its assigned time slot, it skips drawing to the screen.  What I'm saying is a friend list update can take precedence over drawing the meter.  The meter stops momentarily while Flash works on the friend list update.

WGT has indicated they are changing the code to suspend any Friend's list activity when it is your shot. That will eliminate any meter interference. Don't know if that change was in the last update or not.

    Cheers....Fairways and Greens

    Bob

    Source Bob?  Got a link?

If it is the one I'm thinking it was, that change was rejected by their QA lead.

I tried to find out through WGTPizza how that fix was tested (lab sterile conditions? 100 friends on the list?) but got nowhere.

And friend list updates are still being done during our turn.

I was thinking the exact same thing, courtney. Also, is there a way to disable the bell that sounds when a friend logs on/off? It has only affected me once, as far as concentration (and I have to really focus...lol). But, if it sounded at the wrong time, during some games, it could cost players money, or balls. Jet

I'm sure players with 150+ friends on their list will now post they have a smooth meter.  LOL

    250.  :-D

    I have 260.

I think the friends list can have an affect on the meter....  Every time your friend on the list does something like change status ect... it makes the bell sound...  this is extra usage on you Pc...  if your in the middle of your shot... that extra usage on your puter will or can have  a stutter on the meter.

I can say though...  having too many friends on you list.....  which is a Wgt bug... you cannot always see or send Pm's to certain people, until you delete quite a few...  like under 250 friends.

In your game settings menu under audio is a check box to turn it off. You can even get rid of that annoying music...lol

As an added note running a CPU/Ram meter while playing can be big help in letting one know when their cpu settles down enough to swing and also when it has settled down enough to release the swing as an aide to lessen stutters.

You're just bound and determined to make this an issue, aren't you? LOL.

You know me, not a fan of mis-information either Jim!  And no need for me to make it an issue when it already is an issue.
