I am having trouble getting better ...It seems my current clubs are maxed out as far as what I can do ...I use T.M. 9.0 L48 ALDILA Driver rated 275 and level 70 nike balls best available (distance wise) but I cant seem to really drive but 275/310 depending on conditions . 349 is my longest drive with a lower level driver.
    My Irons ping g20 l59 , t.m. 3wood r11s level 43 and ping wedges .

I guess my question is as I see it its not worth upgrading until around level 80ish  I don't see the value so am I just going to have to play and play and play some more ? I understand my skill is still an issue but  clubs have lost serious distance since moving to master. I do not see any irons, drivers , or wedges that look like they would be much better until much higher level. Maybe switch brands I do well with fast swing meter .
    Advise Please !!!
    Thanks , Sean

GREAT ADVISE THANKS TO ALL ..IT ALL MAKES PERFECT SENSE !!

With that driver, have you tried almost full backspin with your drives?.... this gives best distance with the level 93 R1. In fact most the clubs and ball you use are used by a lot of low level Legends and are quite capable of standing you proud, maybe its time to really learn your clubs and try all variations of spin and shot type ;-)

PS level 79 bladez are a great iron set if you don't mind meter speed.

As per the previous post, the G20's should get you all the way to level 79 where you can get the bladez (and boy will you see a difference), and these will get you through to the R11's.

With your clubs, first thing i would do is drop the hybrid and get another wedge.  Most top players carry 3 wedges and no hybrid (and when you get to the bladez you wont need it anyway)

Change out your wedges once you get to the Cleveland's (i think you only like 4 levels away so should take to long)

Also learn to play to your strengths, like say you cant make it to a par 5 in two, dont automatically pull out the 3 wood and smash it as far as you can, try leave it so you will have a full wedge in rather then an odd 37 yard shot.

And finally, here is my yardage chart for the G20's,

I did this by going to BPB 12th, and hit 100 shots with each club (well more, but only recorded the dinged shots) 50 no spin, 50 full spin, and took the average. The yardage is the final resting place, not the bounce (which i wish i recorded)

Note this was done with a level 70 Nike ball

Club                               Full Distance                                With Full Back Spin

    3 Iron 210y                    216                                                 205

    4 Iron 200y                    202                                                 189

    5 Iron 190y                    194                                                 176

    6 Iron 175y                    179                                                 162

    7 Iron 160y                    164                                                 149

    8 Iron 145y                    148                                                 138

    9 Iron 130y                    130                                                 123

    PW      115y                   115                                                  105

Like i said, this is just the average, there were lots of WTF moments when doing this when shots would fly 10-12 yards longer or shorter, but these were not included in the final calculation.

Hope this helps.... stay with it, like i have said, once you get to level 79 the game will become alot more fun

I took a quick look at your stats and i see 2 areas that could use some improvement. Your sand saves and scrambling are in the 20;s % range. I would recommend getting the Cleveland wedges as your level moves up to the 70's. And i would add a 3 wedge and dump the hybrid once you've got the new  wedges.

If you've got credits to burn then get the g-20 3w. Otherwise i'd wait until you can get the upper level g-20 d and 3w. You'll probably want to get either the lvl 79 Bladze or lvl 82 g-20's. I had the Bladze and really liked them. The upper level woods are  definitely  a step up from the lower levels.

Next is your 3 putt % is killing you.  I would suggest working on your distance control. If you have the right speed...the line will follow and putts will start to drop.  and you'll be closer for your 2nd putt.

I got a tip from a TL a few weeks back that has helped  tremendously. This is for tourney greens. I'm not sure about other speeds.  On up hill putts i take the number of inches up and multiple that x .79 (79%) and add that to the distance. And on downhill putts, take the number of inches down x 1.31 (131%) and subtract that from the distance.

I had always used the 1 inch equals 1 foot.

Lastly i would suggest joining an active  country  club and play some alt matches with higher level players. You'll get a better sense of how to manage the course and ask questions and learn as you go.

    Good Luck!!

agree with this. The backspin is good for the medium trajectory drivers, should add a few more yards, the x hot is even  better than the 48 r1.

you are 9 levels from the 79 bladez, they will improve your game, they have much better stopping power, especially on the longer irons.

and you could use a 3rd wedge, big gap from the 52-64 ones you have.

I could not be without my 60 w , full shots, flops and punch that one on every round.

Here in the forums is a dist chart for your putter

    http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/80998.aspx

Keep in mind that Nike putter you have, the chart is very accurate except shorter putts you tend to have to slam so they don't veer off just before the hole.

Use the punch shot when you can, and learn it well.

Practice chipping as much as you can, until you have gr8 confidence & your holing some out.

Learn and get really good using the flop from the bunker, rough, fringe, & fw.

Being great at recovery is one of the best assets.

Play a lot of A/S matches with better players, study their play and ask questions.

Playing from the Master tees you certainly haven't maxed out your clubs. Up thread there's some good advice about ditching your hybrid and getting a 3rd wedge. Frankly with the equipment you have and some meaningful practice, you could be playing much better.

We see this often, if you enslave yourself to the equipment, you'll never get better. It's about using what you have to it's fullest.

+1 , you may want to try a lower level ball . I once read that your ball level, should not be higher than your club level . So this may be the problem . Your game is really just getting started , so dont give up . You will have plenty of time to quit , after you reach  Legend . Good Luck , and  Happy Swinging :-)

At your level 3 wedges are a must and make sure they are evenly spaced. When you are used to these it's important to get used to all of the wedge options, especially the flop and punch, personally I never pitch and hardly ever chip but we all do things differently. You can flop right down to about 6 yards and the main advantage of that is to get the ball to stop almost dead where it lands. I hope that helps.

First, I'm an average player, play for fun, and have the level 59 Ping G20's full set with Nike putter.

Except for a few Par 5's, there are no greens that I cannot reach in two shots, if I shoot correctly. When I miss or come up short, I use my 200 cr. Ping wedges. I flop because I have not taken the time to learn how to pitch/chip correctly.

I personally do not believe a driver that adds 20yds to my drives is going to make me a better player. Changing my iron distance by adding 5-7yds would probably be detrimental to my game. Learning to use what I have through practice is where my game has progressed. It then comes down to putting. Reaching the green in 2 and 2 putting =4. Reaching the green in 3 and 1 putting =4. Learning how to use what you have and working on your putting game is how all the good players became good.
