clockjr:
You are lying on the fairway and your approach to the pin is 102yds. Your iron is saying its a 110 yard hit to the pin (wind 90 deg from left so distance may not be affected only line).
Do you:
1. Use max backspin to try and slow the flight
or
2. Move the triangle thingy-me-bob back from the pin but the appropiate yardage
With the starter clubs, you going aim "into" the wind...depends on how much wind...but aim into it.
No worries if distance says 98 or 109 on the Triangle aimer, that has no bearing on ball distance.
Then hit you 110 club less than full power, take about 90% full swing...note where ball lands and how much roll out you get.
I've found with starter clubs and balls, using no spin (9 iron and down) is much more forgiving on FW approaches...just learn how much ball flight and roll..
Tip:...Watch the yardage get larger as you hit the ball...when you here a "thud" as it lands, note that distance with that club...i/e a full shot with you 110 iron may go 102 in the air, but roll out 10 yards...etc.
