i am the first 2 admit i have no idea how averages are computed. i am baffled at the fact that i just shot a -6 round and my average only went down a quarter of a point. would someone please explain why. thankyou.

Once you reach any given tier - in your case, the Master tier - you need a minimum number of ranked rounds before you can progress to the next tier.  I believe WGT calls this minimum number of rounds the 'saturation point.'  If my understanding is correct, prior to reaching this saturation point, all stroke play ranked rounds on any Par 70 or Par 72 course will be used to compute your average.  This means that any rounds above your current average will carry more weight against you, so to speak. But once you reach your saturation point, then only your best rounds will be used when calculating your average.  This means that the reward for a round under par is much greater, and punishment for failing to break par, or shooting above your average, is negligible.

But I've only been on tour for a couple of months and I'm no expert in the matter, so everything I just said take it with a grain of salt.  I'm sure someone more  knowledgeable can give you a better explanation.  Good Luck reaching Tour Master.

The average is the average of your top "x" number of scores at your tier. At 40 scores as a Master that means the round of 30 you shot would be knocking out one of the 40s you scored early as a Master to drop your score that much. As those higher scores get replaced your average will go down at a much slower rate.

How far you are under par is meaningless. WGT views only the actual number of strokes. They view 6 under on a par 35 for nine holes (29) as being better than 6 under on a par 36 (30).

So you played a 30 (don't bother to think about "below Par") on nine holes, which counts as a 60 score towards averaging.

From your scoring history, it looks like you are approaching "saturation", i.e. the threshold of 40 rounds limiting the average calculation, thus it's still a linear average calculation.

    The average movement may be approximately (66-60)/25 = 6/25 = .24

Is that close enough to the quarter you mentioned?
