OK 5 different clubs, all different top spin/back spin positions and different wind directions and I can get it in the same bunker every time. This game is not as accurate as real life and then theres the ball that will roll uphill for yards and not downhill. Really confusing and fustrating

It is really confusing and frustrating when you first start, but it gets easier.

This game can be more accurate than real life, because you know exactly what yardage your clubs will go and are told the exact distance to the hole. You are even told the wind direction and speed. The rest is down to you. It comes with experience.

You don't have to hit the ding all the time, but you do need to know where you are aiming and how the wind will affect the ball. I hardly ever hit the ding, but hit either side to allow for the wind. Top spin/back spin doesn't have as much effect on starter balls. You could try a slightly better ball.

Your driving stats are good, better than mine. GIR, could be better. You have one good wedge, I would get rid of the other two starter wedges and buy some more Ping ones, spread out evenly for yardage.

Stop focusing on that same bunker, you will go in many when you are just starting. See it as an opportunity to practice your bunker shots.

Play a lot of stroke play on different courses to get use to them. After a while you will know where to hit the ball, all about course management.

It can be a struggle starting out, I've been there. If you stick with it you will improve

Yup and it is called learning this game, which takes a long time and a very good post by Jason.

AS Jason says, in time you will learn not to hit the ding to counter the wind effects, and that the starters ball really will not offer any spin, but my advice is at your level, not to spend toomuch on them - say the WGT Tour SDs did me until Master.

Your real issues are the wedges, and agree that having 3 equally spaced good wedges will save you a lot of shots. Sadlt as it stands, your GIR are not good, but your scrambling/sand saves are worse, so nearly each time you miss the green it will be a bogey. Then theres your putting to be drastically worked on. Good wedges will get you closer so alone may improve your putting stats.

That said try and think what iron set you may upgrade to and work backwards from the pitching wedge for your wedges so the are equally spaced.

As for landing in the same bunker, this shows poor course management - think before each shot and DO NOT assume the club or shot the caddy gives you is right - it seldom is (rule #1).

Read the chipping and putting tips to the right and learn the game but a lot of practice is required. Search the forums as there is a wealth of great tips and info, and then did I say practice? And then practive a lot more!

It is not easy, but it certainly is not stupid.

    Thanks, alanti.

I just commented on my experience, but you have far more than me and have made some good points.

Yes, never trust the caddy. You'll get to learn which club is right for each shot. Good advice on the balls. I knew starters were no good, but didn't know which ones he should use.

Listen to, alanti. He knows what he is talking about.

Most of the time, this will happen . So you learn to take the bunkers out of play . Its the same with the water as well . By design , the hazard shots , are high risk shots . Although tempting , they are not worth the head ache, in this game .Those shots are programmed , to drop short , over 80% of the time . So learn to play away from them , and avoid at all cost .Hope this helps. Happy Swinging :-)
