I may be mistaken but I think the last free rental was some time around the opening of Merion. Is there one in the forseeable future, or is when the next Open course ( probably next time we will see a new couse that isn't a best of or a par 3) is added the closest date?

I think what this shows is that people do enjoy renting clubs to try them out first, but what it also shows is that people think the currently rental system is crap and are willing to wait months to try out new equiment rather than just pay to rent it

These means a couple things. First people probably believe the rental prices are way too high. You pay 10% or more of a clubs value to rent for 24 hours. Wouldn't it make sense to charge more nominal amounts. I get the problems with people renting clubs to enter tourneys and do better so I am not saying they should be like 20 creds but paying 300 and 400 creds is a bit high, i think. Secondly, I think a lot of people would like to see the rental fee go towards the cost of purchase should they choose to and I think that is a good idea.  Why not give some body that credit should they decide to buy, why nickel and dime people and be shortsighted, you would probably get far more rentals if you did either of this and a ton more if you did both and it would probably lead to more sales of equipment but as with most things good ideas usually fall on def ears around here unless it directly puts $$$ in the pocket of WGT

I think WGT should allow us to rent one item per week for free... I probably wouldnt have bothered upgrading my driver and wedges if i hadnt been able to test out some first. I would think it would be in their best interest. I tested out the driver i have now during one of the free rental weekends and after only one round I knew I was gonna buy it.

i disagree with this totally read the above post thats a far better idea unless the free rentals could be only used for practice rounds or something to that effect

Yep.  Short sighted penny wise pound foolish IMO!

May get people looking and renting with serious intent more often.  More sales??

Why I think the money off if you buy is fair all round.

EDIT: Not stopping WGT having free rental weekends, but by way of example  over 500 credits to rent the L94 Nike putter for 24 hours is a chunk of change. Why not give 60% at least back if bought.  At 200 credits extra cost say more might try??.  We all get the picture, and penny wise pound foolish IMHO as said.

    Jim,

A fair point which i think was bought up before about renting and if deciding to purchase, the cost of rental deducted from the price!

If im correct i think it was Icon that thought it was a good idea and should be placed in the correct post, i.e product suggestions!

I noticed that the 'free rental' days are not coming any time sooner.. would be nice if you could try the NEW clubs for free. Maybe just for 2 hours or so.. It won't hurt just giving the players out here a free 2 hour rental. WGT will still get their money if we purchase them.

    +1

WGT cannot possibly lose on this. More people will buy the equipment if more people try the equipment. I would love to try the SpeedBlades, but I'm not paying 450 cr to determine that they are inferior to my current iron set.
