one of my 'problems' is the slight unreliability of my internet speed and the meter. so, I have been using the most forgiving clubs - my driver and 3 wood are extremely accurate considering how often I 'miss the ding'. I think I need to upgrade some of mystuff to get a little more length but I don't want to sacrifice all of my forgiveness.

anyone who has any suggestions - please respond. thank you in advance.

The best way for you, would be to start playing practice rounds, and make your adjustments from there .Being mindful , that now your upgrades , will pretty much not be needed after this one . From driver to irons , you will be able to get the clubs you want without giving up what you want . The higher G20s , are great clubs , 79+ Bladez are good as well . Pair them up with a good ball , and you will be fine . So go try a practice round , and see how well your clubs perform , and then upgrade from there . Other than distance , the only other challenge is the green speed , which will be faster . Congrats on making Legend , and hope this helps . Happy Swinging :-)

the only thing I think you might want to upgrade is the irons to the lvl 79 rocket blades..

the meter is faster but you will adjust. I think you would be happy with them!

edit: upgrading to the higher lvl clevelands is also recommended.

+1  ... maybe look at replacing the 3 wood.  Your driver will be fine until you can get the SLDR at level 89.  Since I never used the TM Spider putter, I can't really comment.  I love the Bladez ... a lot more forgiving than the level 59 G20's.  If you can hang, maybe we'll get a free rental weekend again and you can try both.

RS you made Legend in 6 mos or less, with less than 400 games. I think you have it figured out my friend. Great Club you belong to though, I am a PA. man myself. Congrats on the jump and great luck to ya in the future.

I'd say learn your clubs from the tips and have fun, back in the day, the clubs you have (which are now better than the G10's) were used by many of the best here...sure, it'll be tough to compete against R11's...but if you can start scoring well with you clubs you have (and you should be able to get in the good numbers), you'll then be in position to get the best clubs and start tossing darts.

Ren mentioned you made Legend in 400 rounds...cool..now it's really time to learn the game and not be in the same type of hurry you were to make Legend...it'll come..enjoy the ride;)

    1. Hold fire on irons.  New L75 one's are out. The pro shop specs suggest they are the same as the L79 Bladez but that's all we have.  Up until these (and jury out IMO) the Bladez were the second best clubs only slightly behind the L90 R11 irons.  With your internet connection the speed may be an issue, so perhaps the L81 G20s although they will not allow the same potential in scoring that the Bladez will with a good connection.

Once you do get new irons you need to get to Beth 10, 11 and 12 and map your new yardages.

    2. Wedges.  I recommend the 100, 80 and 60 yard HL cleves.  Learn these inside out...Full shot, punches, flops, 66% full shot etc etc etc..not mentioned chips and pitches yet.  learn it all.  All that said the L80s ATVs are excellent still and a slower meter.......

    3. Putter.  loads threads on that for whatever style you are.

    4. L84 maybe think about the R11 3 wood. L86 think about the R11 driver.  READ the threads on those and perhaps consider the HL G20s with your connection which come before as well.

L79 is not a bad time to hit Legend.  Congrats and enjoy.

Take it you done all the cache / history clearing / tried different browsers / play in full screen to see if helps your meter??

Hmm...getting used to the Bladez has been a process for me, but I'm working on it. One thing I'm almost certain of is that they are less forgiving than the G20's. The OP made mention of not being a great ding performer, so lack of forgiveness may be a hangup.

That said, forgivness or not, the scoring potential of the Bladez is quite a bit better than the G20s so I'll also throw in my recommendation based on that fact alone.

Drivers: I have used the L48 R1 extensively, the L67 XHot and the L81 G20. I do not think that there is a great scoring benefit with that latter two over the R1. Yes, distance is crucial from the tips, but the extra 5-7 yards isnt going to make that big a difference. If you have tokens to spend, I'd recommend the G20 at level 81. It's more forgiving than its 3 dots may suggest.

Wedges: Love the high level CGs. Best purchases I've made on WGT. Once you practice with them, you'll be deadly inside of 100 yards(108, actually).

Putters, I had the L70 Versa previous to the L77 Method and I like the Method better as its suits my putting style. The good thing about the Versa is it goes pretty much where you point it. Thats also the bad thing! The method is a bit more forgiving if you are a "ding" putter as I am.

Have fun at Legend. It's the biggest tier jump, no doubt. The days of Driver-pitch-putt par 4's are gone, but I think you'll be fine. As the others have said..."practice, practice, practice".

This! As Jim knows, many of us have spent a good deal of time in Legend purgatory(L60-L78) and that wasn't much fun!

Very good suggestions for clubs so I won't add to that.

Congrats on your promotion...  I think it's the hardest jump from all the Tiers. Your going to find that you will get more frustrated with the game now (it was a nitemare for me...lol)....  from the new Tee's and Green Speeds. ... Happens to most people...  So just enjoy the ride and after awhile, you will be shooting the good scores again.

One thing though.....   You don't have to hit the ding to have a good shot. Clicking slightly either side of ding, with a bit of practice can bring good results.

Another tip.....  Off the Blacks on Cong#4 you need full B/Spin off the Tee to get over the Tree.

    Good Luck

       Roger

Or you can aim extremely right and hit the "hook" shot (supposed to be a draw, but you don't get draw distance).

    Great tips, Roger!
