Does anyone know if the clubs have a life span?  During the last 10 to 15 rounds my irons (R11) are hitting significantly shorter than they did before.  Example:  17mph wind at my back, green downhill 8ft.  I dinged a 5 iron  (175yd club) with 1/2 bckspn, the ball only went 164yds. In the past that shot would travel easily 180+.  This is happening constantly with all irons.  I went from mid 60's to upper 70's per round.  Same irons and same balls as before.

I remember Icon stating that clubs' characteristics do not change. But, hitting downhill with bs may shorten the shot, and tailwind does not always make it longer. And VEM is ubiquitous.

Reminds me of an old article on pgatour.com about golf lake divers. They reported to have been confronted with everything in the muddy waters. At TPC Sawgrass #17, the balls extracted outnumber the greenfees payed by far.

One prominent find was a complete club set ?with bag?, and they find children's clubs, too. Those poor kids inherit the bad customs of their parents...
