I just played a challenge for 150 credits and it said the winner wins 135 credits.  How come WGT only gave me 120 credits and kept 30?

150 crs challenge, 10% = 15 crs rake from each, the wager is 135 crs.

You win, get 135 crs from your opponent, WGT gets the your part of the rake from you. Net win 120 crs.

Look into your account - it's there.

So if you win you have to pay WGT twice?  Hmmm.  I looked in the rules and can't find that little tidbit.

No. You're not paying WGT twice. Alosso is mainly referring to the total purse you win because WGT deducted 10% from each player's contribution to the purse, not just the loser.

Say you and your opponent both have 1,000 credits total and you enter a 150 challenge.

You now have 850,:your opponent has 850.

You've combined 300 into the prize purse.

WGT takes 10% (30) of the total amount wagered (300) making the total prize purse 270.

    You win the challenge.

Your opponent remains at 850 total credits.

You win the 270 credit purse, when added to your 850 gives you 1120, or a net gain of 120 to the 1,000 you had before you ever entered the match...

A lot of people forget to account for the amount deducted from their own bet into the game.

See "Matchplay Challenge" in the FAQ:

WGT will withhold 10% of the challenge amount from each player as a fee for running the game. For example if each player challenges 100 credits, WGT will withhold 10 credits from each player as the fee. Therefore the winner of the match will win 90 credits from their opponent.

    Skins is just as bad.

Up to 49 creds they take 30 from each player, so a 10 credit game over 9 holes costs u 120 creds, u win 6 skins and ur opponent wins 2, sounds good don't it, but u end up winning just 10 credits.

Multiply that by 10 or more and u can only imagine ur disappointment at the nett result even if u win.

In MPC's the amount you take home is - 20% of the staked amount.

It looks like -10% but don't be fooled.

Many play for 333cr, thinking they will win 300cr. Its true to the point of before paying their 10%, so it equals 267cr (their take home pay.)

If you want to take home 300cr, you need to play for 374cr.
