    SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS INFORMATION

If you're having problems with your computer,  it could be overloaded with one or more of these problems, unwanted programmes, unnecessary memory usage, errors and waste etc.

I followed online instructions (see link below) to try and solve my pc's problems which were a slow start up and response, freezing, crashing -especially during WGT games- and general erratic performance.

It takes 30-45 minutes to go through the procedures, giving an immediate improvement in your computers overall performance.  If you had problems crashing  in WGT games, this should stop and you may also notice a smoother shot meter.

It's the best thing I've done for my computer.  It works so well now, I've even had live golf playing during a WGT game without any interference.

    Go to this link.

There's some free cleaner programmes recommended below  that are good for regular maintenance to keep your computer running smoothly.

Thanks for the info Dubfore, System Mechanic appears to have good reviews but as I'm a non-working tight-ass, I have downloaded a free version of another recommended application called SlimCleaner, which I will have a go with later, cheers.

Be careful of some of those freebies, some are duds and spam.  Usually you can find out what's genuine by asking in google.   The genuine free programs don't have all what's needed for a 100% fix.

    Cheers.

So very true, you can download such freebies and they will run the scan and tell you that you have a jillion problems with the registry, etc, then offer you a button to fix it all and after you click the button, you get this nice message that says, in order to fix this  whole mess you need to purchase the entire package for $XXX.XX.

I'm sure there are some out there that do it all for "free" but I haven't found one yet that really does it.  If you have one, please share it.

I can't be certain how much of a difference the System Mechanic has made as I used soon after the Optimise excercise, but the memory recovery has been impressive, and it also updated my out of date driver.

There are plenty of very very good free optimiser/cleaner programs out there. If you get them from a reputable freeware hosting site you can avoid the rogue ones.Quite often the free ones are better than ones you have to pay for.

These are all trouble and cost free.

While there are several programs out there that tell you they will "scan" your computer for free, as the OP says, they will give you this huge list of errors and tell you that you have to buy the program in order to fix the errors.

With that said, there are also many "freeware" programs available to you that are designed by college students and the code and executable are free.  It's known as "Open Object" software.  The three links provided by Paulton are in fact free and do not contain spam.  They all do exactly as advertised.  If you do not have a utility to keep your machine clean, I highly recommend any of these utilities, as they all work splendidly.
