I hear ya, wouldn't trade band experience for anything...the whole gamut from comedy to tragedy and everything in between.
Funny thing about music...rhythm is all about time awareness and execution, but when you're engaged in playing, time seems to stop.
Mark (waaaay past middle aged, headed for the end of the line)
LMAO Mark and Andy.
It was the thing to do, join or form a band with mates, play some atrocious dives and get paid shite for doing so. Cop abuse by a tough crowd...or even worse a few haggard alcoholics or druggies so out of it they will either try to kill you or seduce you as the only audience. Thank gawd they were not gay bars!
I am not sure about the rhythm is all about time awareness and execution part......perhaps that why we sucked - we were about playing loud and seeing what piece of skirt would come of it.....
But like all good things, they eventually (or thankfully) come to an end. In my case it was shagging a bandmates g/f.......who said music overcomes all ills?
Saved the eardrums of many as a result, but something I would not change - and forced me to get a career.
I too am past middle aged and too late for a comeback, I was going to say we could form a band called the Geriatrics (no offence to the youthful one)......but someone already has the name (young punks too). Perhaps The Geriatrics and the Zimmer Frames?
Add to that, playing rest home gigs just does not cut the mustard for me.
