I'm level 39 Tour Pro, score 68 average.

At what level should I get better clubs?

A BIG part of why the 'Tour pros' & 'Legends' play so well is because of the upgraded equipment! As you progress & get to higher levels some pretty nice equipment is available to buy. Any upgrade you make, wheather its clubs or balls or whatever, the ease of play increases tremendously.  I bought a Callaway driver for $11.00. It instantly gave me 50 yards extra distance! But more importantly, it also gives you a slower meter! The slow meter allows you a better chance of striking the perfect shot. You also get a pack of Callaway balls. Lots of extras! Well worth the $11.00. When you get to the 'Tour-pros' & the  'Legends' levels you have the BEST equipment available to you. You still have to buy it $$ but it is worth it! I hope this helps you!

Many here will tell you that your short game is very important. So perhaps some decent wedges would be a good place to start.

I would suggest that you wait until you reach Master tier , late 50s level . Build and save your credits until then . Once you reach Master tier , you will then need clubs with higher loft . From there you can upgrade your clubs , preparing for the move , to Legend tier . From Master to Tour Master , the only change you will make , will be a faster green speed . So if you can , wait until then , so as not to waste your credits , on multiple upgrades . If anything try a better ball for now , as it would be cheaper . Good luck , and happy swinging . :-)

It depends who you're competing with.

If you are mainly competing with yourself to improve your skills and your tier at the least expense, then I would agree with Lonnie (if you are able to get as far as master on starter clubs - I had to get the old Raptures back in the day in order to reach master when it was the top tier). At some point you are not going to have the firepower to score low enough to keep advancing without shelling out for some decent clubs - long driver, irons with spin and high flight, wedges with spin, and an accurate putter.

But if you are seriously competing now with everyone else, for tournament wins, credits etc., you are at a disadvantage if you are playing against other people (in your own tier or otherwise) who have better equipment, in which case you should upgrade earlier.

The worst clubs in your bag are the Starter wedges. You'll get much advantage of replacing them with two short wedges, either lvl 38 ATV or lvl 41 Ping (very close to you).

Furtheron, one possible effective sequence of clubs may be seen in a selection of

    L32 R11 - L59 G20 - L79 Bladez (L83 G20) - L90 R11

Since you have upgraded some clubs already, it may be sufficient to get a driver now and wait for the G20, as stated before.

If you're happy to splash the cash then read the advice vis-a-vis the best clubs and buy at each level, but start with wedges, and get the R1 driver as soon as you make level 48.

If you're strapped for cash, then hold on, wedges first, and if you're REALLY short of money (and determined) you can then make legend with basic gear, but then you'll HAVE to buy, so do surveys vids etc from now to then.
