No overlaps in our schedules for the betterball match next week. I guess the best bet would be if Kyrock can manage one hour earlier one day and Jsweet and I can stay up a bit later until the game is finished. I´m flying back home tomorrow (3rd), and arriving on the 4th, so will be largely unconscious until the evening of the 5th.

    Hi Mags,

Did you notice that I had indicated that your match only had overlap at the weekend, where there is a wide range of 8 hours that appear to work well for everyone? Perhaps you didn't scroll all the way to the weekend timings at the right?

My hope throughout the tourney has been to find matches that didn't require only weekend overlap, but in this instance half the matches are in that situation, including yours. I did think though since you were only returning midweek that waiting till the weekend might be better anyway for you. And I believe you had confirmed to me via PM that your weekend availability was the same hours as your weekday, which I have used in the chart.

Good luck with the rest of your house purchase trip, and safe travels back!

    Corwyn

    ------

E :: The only overlap for the 4 of you is weekends, between 8pm-4am UTC (noon-8pm WGT time). Again, best to plan for Saturday if that will work for Rock this week, to leave Sunday as backup.

Jon (jsweetcr): your window of 2-10pm local time.

fmagnets: your window of 8pm-4am local time.

Rock (KyRock75) & Icon (iconian): your window of 3-11pm local time.

Final match of the worst ball series, and USA won 2 & 1.    We had to call in a USA alternate, Moosetaya, but he did the USA proud.

It started to fall apart for team ROW on hole 1, WigerToods2010 (Johnny) hit the tree from the tee and then had an almost impossible bunker shot off the approach.

Team ROW fought to get back in the game but USA were solid, not giving us a chance with solid par play throughout.

On the 5th it was my turn to have a blip, missing a crucial par putt.

Team ROW just couldn't break the USA defences, and so it was all over on the 8th hole.

We played to the finish, well done USA.

Well, thanks everyone for your patience and for managing to get this game played. Obviously, I'm pretty disappointed in Wolf's second no-show, this time without any notice, and feel at this point that we will need to excuse him from the rest of the tourney.

It turns out that Dakotarov didn't respond to my PM until after you had finished playing (he had a golf round anyway that would have prevented him filling in as alternate, and the other 2 pre-existing US alternates, dougsda and a new 3rd alternate, TarheelsRule had no viable time overlap. So, I'm glad you found Moosetaya, who really proved his worth!

It's extremely bad luck Steve and Johnny to have lost out. You managed an extraordinary best ball score of -8, and would have won 4&2 had it been in that format. But it seems that the dependable, solid par golf of Dave and Moose was exactly what the format demanded, and they fully deserved their win. Proof that birdies are somewhat meaningless unless both players in a team make them! And that it's incredibly difficult to come back from a deficit.

Congrats to Team USA who seem to have excelled at the strategy in this first series, and take a deserved 3.5 to 2.5 point lead into week 2. Here is the updated Overview.

    ---------------------

I will need to check the week 2 Best-Ball series match F, and see which of the alternates, in signup order, has matching availability to partner Wesdogg instead: 1-dougsda (who has very limited availability), 2-dakotarov, 3-TarheelsRule, 4-Moosetaya (I'm delighted to see you've already gone in and filled out the availability form. Thanks!).

So, players in that match, please await further info from me, and keep checking this thread. Thanks!

I can get my hours extended if we can get other 3 lined up in  the same time... I suspect it won't work unless kyrock has a day off during the week.

If anything changes, please let me know on my wall and I'll do my best :).

p.s no way I can do the mornings though :)

Thanks for your flexibility Icon! We'll wait to hear if Rock gets any time off during the week.

    --------------

Folks might find this amusing... Tonight in the Merion UEL weekly singles I think I got one of my most severe sidehill/uphill bunker lies ever:

The 2nd pic shows where I aimed, and the last pic above a snapshot during the replay. I clicked a little early to help offset the extremity of the lie, and judged the line not too bad I thought... Sadly I was still 8 yards short but could have been a lot worse! And yes, bogey did ensue... ;)

But since bunker is a lot better than weeds, I actually came out of it all pretty well considering.

    Corwyn:

B :: The only overlap for the 4 of you is weekdays, between 5-7pm UTC (9m-11am WGT time), and is complicated by Corwyn's 9am being more like 9:30am (by the time I get back from school drop-off).

I will aim for 9:15 if I can but 9:30 is definitely OK, and we are also hoping Luciano can stay 15-30 mins longer if needed at the end, but 1.5hrs should be enough time if we are all prompt.

Luciano (Daskino): your window of 6:30-8pm local time.

Corwyn: your window of 9:30am-11am local time.

Devon (devonnnnn) & Dee (deedles77): your window of noon-2pm local time.

All good, Corwyn. Any day from tomorrow to friday will be nice to play. :)

LOL...Hope you used up all your birds on the back 9 in this round.

Thanks Russ! Oh, I do hope I've saved some birdies for ROW! Actually, I'm still a bit shocked to have birdied 3 of those last 5 tough holes.

I wasn't even sure I had enough time to get it played, finishing in the end with a few minutes to spare. And after being just -3 after missing a 5 footer on #8, I held no hope of a win.

Here's the card and stats if anyone's interested. It's great to see so many of our Ryder Cup participants featuring highly on this particular weekly UEL singles leaderboard. Congrats to all!
