To each his own Mike, but I don't agree with this:
MichaelStroke: It taught me how to play properly
The Starter driver plays quite well but is too short for quite a few holes from Pro tees - imagine STA#7 with a wee headwind.
Starter 3WD is quite crappy, straying the balls all over the place.
3H & irons may be tolerable, as is the Putter, except for it's balance. But the wedges don't allow for any good short game unless you know the game inside out.
While I agree that classy clubs may start with the lower G20s, people have to keep up their fun to play until they get there, otherwise they'd turn away. In former days I'd have proposed the Raptures of lvl 47, but they are gone for good.
Yes, it's not for free, yes, you'll need to exchange them probably at Master tier, but for someone who's ready to invest some for his leisure, it's not too bad to have quality clubs available at lvl 27 or lvl 32 (looking at the full sets). From there, it's still 70,000 XPs to lvl 59, two, three or more months of fun for 35 bucks + balls (add 12 $ for wedges and putter, a longer-lasting investment).
