Do you believe the ATV 64 wedge is better than the Cleveland 64 wedge.???

The R1. I know the saying "drive for show, putt for dough." but it all works backwards, putts are a lot easier from 5ft than from 50ft, getting close to the pin is a lot easier from 100yds than from 180yds and from the Legend tees the R1 gets you back into that range where you can hope to get your approach shots much closer to the hole.

A single club buy must be a Wedge IMHO - get a quality shot to the flag!

If "one club only" is to be maintained "forever", I' want to discuss if not to prefer a 75/80 yds club or even a 100yds club - bigger range for good shots - think of chips and flops.

For a budget one-by-one extention, I'd propose a 3WD (replacing the Starter driver) and a second wedge.

Gotta agree with court on this.  A proper lob wedge makes your short game deadly and makes your near-green flops accurate enough that you don't need to worry about making a 50 foot putt.

But if your drives are only 220-230 yards, then you rarely get to use your wedge for your approach shots.

    +1

You'd hit or miss the green from far out => a good wedge for successful scrambling.

Courteney may be right with the short one.
