i just upgraded my irons and would like to also do my wedges. I am currently at lvl75 and my question is: Should I wait to get the highest level atv's or is it worth it to get the lvl 50 something ones?

    Start from the top:

How long is your PW? How long will the one be that you might use as a Legend?

    Then, make up your mind which spacing you prefer, 50 - 75/77 - 100 (ATV) or 60 - 80 - 100 (Cleveland/Ping), or 60 - 75 - 90 (lvl 52 MAX). The latter may be a tad short with a 110+ yds PW.

Other than that, there is little choice available. In the low range, probably only the lvl 38/39 ATVs and lvl40ish Pings, on the other side, the Cleves+ ATVs from lvl76 (174,000 XPs) and lvl 86 (324,000 XPs). In between there are only only odd lengths. Thus, it's a choice of cost and level.

    My 2 Pfennig:

Take the best ones for the long wedge(s), Cleveland or ATV. You'll want their performance, enough spin to stop on the dime.

The mid club is at your choice, my preference is the high level ones (still have to buy it though).

Regarding the short wedge, I will stick with my Z-Satin, the predecessor of the lvl 39 ATV. The Ping is not too bad, too, I was told.

    Thanks alosso

the distance is my problem right now because my pitching wedge is 125yds. and then I have a 90-70-55.  I don't know how I should exactly buy the wedges.  I like the 60 degree wedge I have even though it is one of the cheapest in the game.  I am comfortable with it.  The other 2 wedges I don't really like so they need to go.

Which is the punch length of the PW? About 106 yds? How do balls move or stick on the green after 1st contact, with full backspin?

If it's not too bad, take this as the upper neighbor and try to figure out a combination of two approx. evenly spaced steps towards 55 yds. 72 - 90? This might unexpectedly call for the MAX...

More threads than a threaded thing on HL Cleves v ATVs.

Both sets are deadly in the right hands.

Personally I would say go with Cleves now provided you do not have real dexterity issues with  dinging (look at the meter speed).  Remember they roll up with top spin some (107 yards is possible with the 100 yard wedge).

The Roger Cleveland wedges came here first and most all of the top players followed after them and soon the crowd followed. They have performed so well, the incentive to switch to the ATV did not exist. The ATV is every bit as good, perhaps better. Most will admit that this is true. They are at parity and offer no weak points. You will be correct and right with either choice.

Do atv have an alternative to the 56º cleve, cos I find its performance disappointing.

I can do more with my Nike VR forged PW

EG     I would rather punch my Nike than TS a Cleve wedge for 103 yards.

    ATV 56.

FYI it punches at 83 yards so.........

Amazed, but we all have different ways.  Thing goes 102  yards NBS anyway with my balls. Cleves are just A1 reliable from anything I see.

Thanks for the input everyone.  After looking at them and figuring out what I needed I have decided to go with 3 cleveland wedges so after my pitching wedge at 125 I will have 100-80-60.  I think that should space everything out pretty good.  Hopefully the 60 yd. wedge makes the cheapo snakeyes look like a pos.  If not I will just get it back out lol
