I am under the impression that i put my arrow on the green spot of the golf ball in the lower right of the screen, click on that and move it up or down to create draw or roll. Is this correct or do i need to reach a certain level to use it. Thank u very much for your help. This is a great game i will need to join a country club soon..

You are almost correct. Moving the dot up will create topspin (not really topspin but less backspin but won't go into that here as might cause confusion)), effectively reducing the elevation gained by the ball during flight but will increase the roll out upon landing. Moving the dot down will increase the amount of backspin thus increasing the ball elevation during flight but reducing the roll out upon landing.

Having said that, beginners clubs and the free ball have virtually no spin attributes and will not be noticeable if you apply spin to your shot. If you have a look round the pro shop and look at the higher level irons, wedges and balls, you will notice varying numbers of dots under the spin attribute.  If you are able to purchase good clubs and balls and get the best from them then they are very worthwhile for game satisfaction as you will be able to stop the ball on the spot and even back it up.

    Have fun.

U will only find the dot applicable when u have higher level clubs and balls.

Joining a Country Club is the way to go to get more knowledge.

Players say things in a country club forum they don't say in these forums, so u will become privy to very valuable information.

    I respectfully disagree.

Of course, it's nothing compared to quality custom clubs, but it has a wee effect. When I played the Starters - quite a long time BTW - I played each shot with max. bs. Drives seemed to be longer, iron shots just a tad higher.

The difference was most notable with approach shots to STA's greens. They would no longer roll for miles but only for one.

You're probably correct Alosso, I haven't played with the starters in a long while so I've forgotten what they are and aren't capable of, I stand corrected.

I play with the starters on a semi-regular basis for fun and the feeling of old-school Golf. . The BS is viable but only to a certain degree. We still have to accept that the ball will roll forward upon approach. With full BS we don't have to land the ball so short of the hole for it to roll up there.  GL to the OP. You're in the fun, learning and discovering stage. Enjoy it to the fullest while you're there. :)))

No disrespect intended to oneeyedjohn but I disagree a little.

If you do a search (wedge play, backspin, etc) there are lots of people who post very good information on the regular forums.

I have gleaned a lot of great info from these boards and it has helped me quite a bit. Wish I had read some of it on day one and it would have helped me more and saved me some credits.

I am sure some cc boards are stock full of info too but you can only join one and you may join one that does not have a helpful forum.
