How to calculate the meter on Tourny Green?

  Hi All,

  Can you tell me how to calculate the meter on Tourny Green?

  Use your calculator beside your playing browser while you play. Tournament green speeds are calculated by the magic number of 1.30

  Example:

  Putt: 18 feet 4 inches up ( flag shows feet plus a little number up top explaining if it's up or down in inches) 

  Each inch up or down at hole equals 1 foot on your meter

  So 18 feet 4 inches equals : 22 feet total

  Here's where you use your calculator until you get use to where your increments are on the meter; by playing so much...:)

  Enter: 22 divided by 1.30  = 16.92 feet

  Add a 1 to 2 feet for up hill putts to compensate for the ball slowing down on uphill putts ( momentum) and subtract that as well for down hill putts.

  I may be the odd man out, but, I've always used this formula.

  Tourney greens = Distance to hole, plus or minus elevation expressed as feet, plus 1.5 ft ( to allow for proper putt carry through ) x .7

  Example: 10' to hole 4" up =14' + 1.5' = 15.5' x .7 = 10.85'  As Joe said, add a little for uphill subtract a little for downhill. Either method should get you close. Good luck.

  Or .. just play enough games on each green speed so you know how far back to pull the trigger before hitting it.  

  No formulas needed that way, no math, no calculators ... just feel it ...
