You are dishonest!!

  I play sometimes R&G. Today I saw OAKMONT back9. "Good, I use to play all my challenge matchplays in that holes. I knew them better than my wife!" lol Well, in the first holes I stopped with my putts 3 times on the edge of the hole!! Each time extending the putt. Finally I realized that the TOURNAMENT green speed indicated was actually a slow VERY FAST SPEED.

  I scored 31, It should have been a 28. This is not fair. Bye

  LOL...just as in real life. It is why I love the game...everytime you take a swing you simply count one and add up all the swings. What else in life is more fair?

  Infact in real life Tiger Woods score 60 at least 50% of the time he plays..... or not? This is a computer game, with some random software tricks for simulating real golf. But there are some fixed points. One of these is the green speed. The only one I'd say. Try to tell to the players in Dubai, just now, that the green speed is 11 when is 8 and you'll see what happens...  Bye

  Did they introduce a new green speed that I wasn't aware of??

   

  If the tourney had green speeds other than what you expected, but BUT it was labeled as such once you got on the greens, then there is nothing unfair or dishonest about it.  

   

  You just failed to pay attention to detail I'm afraid.   Been there done that.  ;-)

  Remember your school days when you asked "Does spelling count"?

  Reading comprehension and being alert to WGT's habit of "slightly modifying" play conditions REALLY helps here.

  After 2 putts at the TransAmerica tourney today. it was obvious that the "Tournament Greens" were playing like "Fast Greens"  - play by rote & this game will bite you every time!!

  The green speed seems to be less reliable on tournaments -  on them, I find the pin elevation is more helpful. That said, simple logic and math should still apply. For instance, a "very fast" green with a 10 foot "level" putt - with no elevation to the pin - only needs 10 feet (or 1/3 power on the 30 gauge) to finish a foot or less past the hole - which it does in multi-player games. But in a monthly comp, it's erratic. Sometimes it runs 2 or 3 yards past the pin (which is understandable if it's "very fast") but sometimes it grinds to a halt a foot short - defying the science of the "declared green speed". Either way, I'll adjust my pace, or cancel the game and start again. However.... If it's so erratic I can never get anywhere near a score worth posting, I stop playing that competition.

  I think his gripe is the greens supposedly being tournament but playing as if they were somewhere between fast and very fast.  I don't think he failed to notice the indicated speed, the greens just weren't cut that morning.

  I think we've all experienced that head scratching moment when your first putt of 10 feet or more doesn't go anywhere near as far as you expected on tourney or championship greens.   You might not notice on the first hole or so if you played good approaches and left yourself a 4 foot putt.  Then along comes a longer one and suddenly you think WGT changed the green speed on you.

  The trick is to notice and adjust quickly, not just keep playing the indicated green speed.

  This is the way I read it too.

  I agree MM with the need to adjust fast, but what is the point of having a green speed stated if they are this far off. The only saving grace is it SHOULD be the same for all. Then the player who can adjust faster will do better.

  There is a few different Tourny Speed greens. It's been like this for years. You don't know which one your getting until you start playing.

  Wgt has changed the Club/Ball specs from dots to numbers.  Mayber thay can also change it from Champ/Tourny/VFast/Fast speed to numbers aswell.  This will give us an Idea what speed we get.

  Great idea.Something like a stemp meter.
