lets say i have 20mph horizantal wind.

if i punch 50 yard shot. How much wind i need to assume? 10mph?

    Also 13mph tail wind?

if i punch 50 will it go 50 or 50+ wind yardage (2-5)?

Alex, why don't you go and practice these shots you keep asking information on, surely its better to use your own calculations and discoveries after trying them, than relying on someone elses?

Use a factor that accounts for the wind direction and angle to the line of the flight of the ball.

You then use a factor that accounts for the distance of the shot.

Both factors will vary to some extent by club trajectory, though a Punch shot is intended to have a flatter trajectory than a Full shot made with the same club.

Because of the flatter trajectory of a punch shot, the terrain where the ball lands can have a big influence on how far the shot rolls after landing.

in short, because there are so many variables, no one can give a specific answer.

All balls are different Alex, as well as green elevations/slopes

I can tell you though with my Cleve 64 wedge, when I punch down to 35 yards, on a side wind, I play about 1/2 the wind I'd use on a full shot.

With your 13 tail...I'd expect about 2 yards...but instead of backing off the shot, I might add a bit/scooch of backspin to hold that shot at 50 yards, again, green/slope dependent...and again this would be with the Nikes.

All that said, I may still play more/less on side winds, especially with spin added, so the ball won't squirt 7 feet away on the green.

This is pretty much what I use also. I rarely punch anything over 100 yards, and 1/2 works pretty well.

Left to right/right to left. Vertical would be front to back/back to front. That's how he sees it.  :-)

Exactly, just like a graph...or the effects of a 12 pack;)
