I'm looking at upgrading my putter and I am 2.5 levels away from level 70.

The max control (master+) putter and the odyssey vera lvl 70 putter have the exact same stats but the Max control is .5 better in meter speed.

I like the idea of the swing meter increments on the Max.

I currently have the TaylorMade Spider L19+.

Anyone have suggestions on what I should buy? Should I wait until i'm an even higher level to buy a new putter?

Aaron,  I use the Max putter and am very happy with it.  The meter increments are a real plus.  I never tried the odyssey versa lvl 70, so I can not tell you about it.

I use a Max putter and I like the many meter increments as I putt using the higher scales.  For a 9ft power putt I'll use the 90ft scale and hit at 10%.  Slower meter and easier to hit the mark.  I'm happy with it.

Hey Aaron, the higher the Meter Speed rating, the slower the meter speed is. So  the 5.0 Versa rating means a slower meter speed than the 4.5 Max rating. Only mentioning it because I think "better" means "slower" to most players.

    Thanks for the reply!

Since they got rid of the dots i've had a tough time figuring this all out. Are you sure 5.0 is the slowest meter? I just find it weird that:

lvl 70 versa is .5 worse in precision, .5 better in forgiveness, .5 better in balance compared to the lvl 86 versa #7.

So looking at that the lower level club is better in 2/3 stats.... Well the level 70 has a meter speed of 5.0 and the lvl 86 has a meter speed of 4.0.

So that would mean the lvl 70 versa is better in 3/4 stats and overall better by 1.5 points, but the lvl 86 costs 500 more credits?

Yep, 5.0 is definitely a slower meter than 4.5.

As far as price vs. club stats, higher price does not always indicate a superior club, and definitely is not an indicator of value. Look at the stats for the lvl 94 Nike vs. lvl 70 Versa. One is .5 better in Balance, the other .5 better in Precision. Same Forgiveness and Meter Speed. And the Nike is about $10 more expensive.

The meter speed isn't a real issue to me, even if your balls have practically no feel.  I swear by my Versa, but that's just because I'm used to the increments.  If you need a bigger selection pool, than the Max is probably better.  Lots of people usually boil it down to the increments between 25 and 45.

ThreeSpot is correct. The 5.0 is slower than a 4.5. Took me awhile to figure that out when I was shopping for new irons.

HUGE difference between 4 dots of precision vs 4.5 dots. I make far more putts with the L86 Versa than I did with the max control

    Thanks for the input everybody.

I still haven't chosen a putter yet.... I want to upgrade and would buy the Versa lvl 70+ BUT I don't like the increments....

with my Spider lvl 19+ its first increment is 25 feet. So it's easy to calculate, say I want to hit the putt 10 feet, 10 x 4 = 40 %. So I put the putt with 40% power it goes 10 feet.

The Versa's first increment is 15 feet, so now if I had a 10 foot putt it takes more time to calculate, need to pull up the calculator  10/15 = 67%.

Is there a putter you suggest that is an upgrade from my spider but has good increments (espcially the first or 2nd one... the longer increments don't matter so much for me). The first Increment of 10,20,25 would be the best.
