Why does WGT require such high connection rates?

Ok, I've been here a while now and this has been a growing concern right out of the tin foil hat brigade, (who I usually avoid).

    First:
I live in China and I have the absolute fastest connection available (12Mbs in this area).

When I first joined I immediately realised this meant no multi player games I was going to be a loner, OK fine, but then I started taking notes (it becomes a compulsion here after a while), and my connection / meter stutter / connectivity appeared to have nothing to do with my ISP. So I did the usual, clear cache, check other browsers, regular cleaning,  hourly CCleaner sweeps etc. But always the same question, why only WGT?

So I started using the most renowned speed check site (www.speetest.net) and I honestly use it 10 or 20 times a day. So I noticed a trend, WGT doesn't require high speed IT but it does require VERY consistent connection rates, i.e if your connection drops below 0.5Mbs (even for a second) WGT freaks out.

Now, I can sort of understand this for the game client, but why the same for the forum?

And please don't try and say it's my connection (shills), I also play second life  which requires a LOT more from my end than any forum ever written, and I do so regularly with no problems.

So what gives? Why? What are WGT doing  / requiring that needs so much consistent connectivity and WHY does it need the same level for the forum?

    hi

it shouldn't require same for the forum... what happens when your connection drops in such way when you use the forum? It should simply wait til connection is back and then when you refresh it'll do the same?

My point exactly,  yes it does wait, often for 3 or 4 minutes? Why?

If I'm on Second life I can also run Skype and several other windows simultaneously, I wouldn't even dream of attempting that here, Yet SL requires much more from my PC than any forum has any right to ask.

So again, WHY? (i.e. what is WGT and this forum in particular asking of my PC and why is it so dependent of consistent connectivity?)

    Ed

An example on SL I sometimes live stream music (I'm a 'DJ'), I take requests which mean I need to simultaneously access a download site, download the request, while still playing the stream, all at the same time as chatting to friends both in game and on Skype. My connection can handle this no problem, yet WGT freaks out with a one second lowering of connectivity even while WGT is the only connection I have open but even so the forum freezes?

To my simple mind this says WGT is demanding more that is logical.

I'd imagine that the toughest part and biggest reason that WGT can't just "fix' this "issue" easily is that it doesn't happen to everyone.  Maybe at some point and time everyone has issues, but not everybody at the same time.

On my old laptop, I wouldn't dare do anything but play the game when I was on wgt. No other windows open or programs running, just the game client.

Now, on a new desktop, with more memory, much faster processor and better video graphics,  I can surf the forums play an alt shot game chat on skype all while listening to music on youtube and playing online poker in between shots.

Same internet provider with 15Mbps download speed  with old laptop and new computer.

Btw,  always using a wifi signal in my home with wireless router on a different level in my house.

So Yea,, I can see how the first response is always going to be that it's "on our end" when something goes wrong.

Try advanced system care or gamebooster.  Either of those used to help my older computer immensely.

are you using an OPEN DNS.....if you are using an open DNS PLEASE READ THIS

WHY USING AN OPEN DNS IS A BAD IDEA

If you use a US-based DNS server, your closest Akamai cache will instead be chosen as being in the US, and you'll get crummy download speeds as your file trickles over the international link.
