Meter speeds.

  Has anybody tried setting up a bag of clubs with all the same meter speeds or close to it? If so how did that work out?

  I have.

  I bought the Ping G10 driver, 3W, irons and a Tour Pro wedge. I was gifted 2 other Tour Pro wedges at Christmas. Shortly after that, I got a nice gift of the TaylorMade Rossa putter.

  All my clubs have the same meter speed except for the putter. It's a little slower.

  It was my intention to get clubs with all the same meter speed so that I wouldn't have to adjust to different speeds from different clubs during the same round. That just didn't seem logical to me.

  So far it's worked out pretty good. It took me a while to get used to the speed, when compared to the starter clubs, but having consistent speed, I think, has paid off.

   Thank you BubbaSauce. That's what I'm thinking about consistent speed. I think it would help on my timing. That way I wouldn't be hooking one club & slicing another.

  Some players do that.

  I haven't, because having different meter speeds for some of my clubs doesn't seem to effect my ability to score.

  You can always buy the full set of some clubs . Then sell back the hybrid , add a couple of wedges , and there you go . Or you can buy individual clubs , and build your set , as you go. Trying to have the same meter speed as much as possible is the way to go . :-)

  I did, it can help, if you have trouble getting near the ding, but there is a cost of not using better performing clubs. I set up the lvl 94 drv, 95 3 wood, 97 nike irons and the hl clv wedges. Except for putter all the same speed exactly. But there is a performance gain to be made in a longer driver and the better distance control of other wedges. IMHO

  For a true person who would want the same speed meter for all clubs, I suggest (going with best equipment for a reasonable level, so nothing above 95): L89 SLDR (2 more yards for about the same price as L81 G20), L82-83 G20 Irons and Wood, L86-89 Taylormade ATV wedges, and the L72 Ping Redwood ZB putter.

  
  You got a long game, a medium game, and a (very) short game, and a putter with 4.5 precision as well to boot.

  This.  You may well be more consistent at hitting the ding with the same meter throughout but you will be compromising somewhat.

  My bag has mixed speeds, my 3 wood and irons are the same, the driver and wedges are also the same and a bit slower and my putter is slower again. Three different speeds but, arguably, they're all the best at what they do.

  You have to decide what's most important for you.

  Virtually the same now, but for a long time I had a slower 3-wood that I absolutely LOVED - you can't imagine the confidence that extra slow swing gives you from 245 out! Ultimately, though, I had to get a high trajectory one and it was faster. I would keep all three wedges the same speed - that used to tick me off when I forgot what was coming.
