Stumbled upon this and I must admit, it was interesting (understatement)

As much as the green speed was fast, the "automatic ball return feature" on 14 (7 attempts at putting the ball up the hill hahaha) was neat

And Starter Clubs  - from the back tees ? That is tooooo awkward

Oh, and did you do something to the wind also - it seemed to play almost twice as much as posted

    But enjoyed it nonetheless

Put me on the list !!

    WGTdbloshoe:

Well here is the first Test one that I have made.  It is a required starter driver club tournament.  So make sure you add it to your bag before you play.  This is a extreme test course.  WGTIcon quite after 5 holes LOL!

Well, gave that a go using starter balls too - bad move on my part! Took 5 holes to get used to the green speed & then nearly used max shots on the 15th. lol Didn't quit though & posted a score - to hell with my average (it only went up 0.12)!

    Some suggestions for next time:

Restrict to the starter woods/hybrids, starter ball and starter putter.

Also, i know Icon was running some for credits crazy tournaments but I think it's nice to have some free ones too. Thanks for setting this one up.

Don't let Icon quit the game...make him play out to set a good example!!! :D

A follow up question on this: Is it possible for you to program green speed variation hole by hole during a round? Would be fun to play hole 1 with insane fast followed by hole 2 as tournament, hole 3 as insane slow etc etc

And finally, Shoe - will you be posting a score? ;)

I just accidently played the free weekly single play 18 hole Uneven Lies Tourney on Olympic with the starter driver still in the bag. I use the Ping G20 3 wood and irons. Shot even par and had a nice challenging round. The par saves I made were thrilling capped off with a 17 foot par saving putt after a red box lie from a greenside bunker.  This is the way the game is supposed to be played.

    Attn Shoe,

I challenge Icon to a Tourney of all E-Z Swing starter gear with the free ball. Play Uneven Lies on Congressional from the tips with Heavy wind and the Insane Fast greens. I only picked CCC because I've shot under par from the tips with the regular starter gear and the rock in UL once before. There's maybe 3 or 4 fairways that couldn't be reached with the starters but I played to the front tees with either wedges or short irons then hit driver off a tee again. I can't think of playing anything harder so I'm challenging Icon and whoever wants to take the beating. No entry fee please and I don't care if the round counts against average. Instead of testing just one thing at a time let's test every possible way to get crushed all at once. If you put it in the forums I'll play and if you just send me the challenge in a PM I'll take it up as long as Icon has already finished his round.

    ~CD~

    P.S. If he's chicken I'll understand. ;)

I'll give it a go CD...( we obviously can't do super fast greens ) you set it up and invite me (your course it sounds but don't expecting to be beating down on me ! ) you may win, only started UELs 5 weeks ago but I can hold my own ! lol

    Hey Andy,

Sorry, I started testing the conditions right after I posted. I set up all E-Z Clubs and the rock. Congo practice mode from the tips with hard hole locations, Tournament speed greens, and heavy wind in Uneven Lies. No Gimmes Either BTW!  So much fun fighting for all I was worth and got crushed. Shot 101. I think the unpredictability of the E Z Swing clunkers was more powerful than the Uneven Lies as far as throwing the ball all over the place. I just played to avoid bunkers and I almost did it. I suppose if the greens were Incredible Fast Speed, I may have shot 180. :)))

That was fun.  Frustrating at times...but definitely fun.  And thanks for finally slapping a name on that green-speed!  "string tag: null" always kept me guessing for the first few holes.

Hitting a 3-wood from the tee adds an extra challenge, which I personally happen to like....but holes such as 18 should probably be avoided if you're looking to keep things reasonably fair.

With a tailwind, you can reach the fairway...but with the slightest headwind you have no chance. And when you don't get there....you're lucky to get 60 yards from a punched 3-wood on your next shot.  That seems like too severe of a penalty for a purely random variable such as wind direction.

Or is that some kind of programming error/glitch/weirdness?  Most times, an upslope has no effect on your shot.  (which makes me wonder if the ball actually hits into the upslope there, and that's what causes the pop-up?  Guess I'm off to check it out....)

Regardless, keep 'em coming!  No matter whether they're free or credit...or whether they're in here or on the main tourney page.  It's like learning how to play this game all over again!  :-)

I like it.  Why just ski down a hill....when you can ski down Everest!!  (with a rocket strapped to your back...)

    Where's the starting hut?

(I must admit though, the enjoyment I'm getting from these extreme conditions tourneys makes me seriously question whether I have some undiscovered masochistic tendencies.  Either that, or I'm just a little bit nuts.  Which, if one's being entirely honest, is probably the more likely of the two options...)     ;-)

Well that was fookin trippy !!

2 bird rim outs from 5 ft ???? ( I don't miss 5ft putts ), had longer return putts but they were uphill !

+ 2 mad scrambles due to bad / lack of concentration ding misses...no VEM involved.

Lovely putt on #17 for par after hitting birdie putt to 0.8 inches from 22 ft and it rolling back to MY feet, LOL ( the 3w drive landed 2 foot from hole )

Then having to hit a little patch of green on the left at #18, didn't even know if it was OB but couldn't make F/w with 14mph NNE ) hit  9i full TS for 140 yrds AND still hit 40%  grrrrr, went 2 yrds too long , but a nice 3i punch and a beaut of an approach got a great par finish.

The 5ft past to fringe on #13 was a shock, played 138 touch o TS with 14 head wind ??  wtf ???, great 28 ft putt from a bad flop ( went for dunk in ) that sorted too for par !!!

    Not bad for a 2nd outing  :-))

Makes ya think out o the box for sure.....enjoyed.
