The only obvious gap is the need to complement the Callaway driver with the X Hot 2 irons, or, better still, the Apex clubs at the top of the range.

    What attributes for this game?

I am struggling to see any room at all attribute wise that would actually matter.

Personally I would be fine, and i think a few others would also, if the attributes were the same as the nikes. It's time for some callaway irons at the high level.

I know I'm presently wanting to rid myself of everything Nike.

If they keep increasing the distances on the driver/woods, doesn't that mean they'll have to increase the distances of the irons to keep up? A 235 3 iron??  Maybe instead of increasing the distances, they should just increase the accuracy and forgiveness.

    That's something to think about....

^At that rate, by this time next year, we could see 315 yard drivers, 255 yard woods, and 235-240 yard 3irons with the spacing 15 each to make it 130-135 for the PW, and maybe more 110-120 yard wedges. It'd be the only way I'd get the CG16 52W, too close to any PW as it is unless you have the L75 Speedblades.

Increased distance on irons would is not as good as having them with enough back spin to make them stop. The trajectory on a 3 iron without backspin make is difficult to hit with any accuracy. I noticed a huge difference moving up to the Level 97 Nike Irons. Even a half dot of spin makes a huge difference in the resulting putting distance. With the new Calloway 3 wood and its extra spin compared to every other 3 wood makes for a deadly effective weapon

.The other thing to remember is that if you have a 235 3 iron then you will likely have to give up something on the other end, So now you have a PW that goes 130 and your next wedge is 100 leaving a big gap between clubs. the short game is what separates good players from the rest of us. I try to keep my bag balanced( i.e. meter speed and distance gap between clubs).

Yea....it would end up with a domino affect....if you increase the PW  that would mean you'd have to increase the wedge distance and that would make it harder for distances around the green....That's why I was wondering why they couldn't increase the attributes of the clubs instead of increasing the distances....

I doubt they will increase the specs to have one super club with all the bells and whistles. It is just not good for the game. People will just be able to "buy" a good game instead of learing it. There should always be a risk-reward for clubs. If not for the suble differences and the give and take the everyone would shoot 50 every round and that becomes boring fast.

If you want forgiveness then you sacrifice spin...if you want accuracy then you sacrifice forgiveness....etc

The game is supposed to sumulate the real game and there is no player out there than shoots 7 under every round on the PGA Tour
