Okay - to clarify - yes it was full back spin and no, the mouse didn't stick.  I have seen people talk about this on the forums previously but this has NEVER happened to me.  I have hit the tree before with heavy winds from left to right when you have to aim for the wind to miss the rough on the right - too far left and bang - hit the tree and the ball falls basically straight down into the 40-50 rough.  I have played this hole more times than I can count with a tail wind and never had this issue.

There was a thread the other day about the ridiculousness being seen during the Transamerica tourney and the general consensus was that it was to generate more ball usage/purchases.  I get that WGT is a business and needs to make sales to generate income but this was just silly.  That ball was brand new on the 3rd fairway so it had 1 hit on it.  I am not worried about the credits.  I make plenty of them to be able to pay for all equipment and balls and will likely never have to deposit any money into the game to continue playing.  I know that there are people though that have to endure this type of garbage when they are paying their way to play at $1.50-$2.00 per ball and if they see this type of flagrant ball theft they are likely not to return.  I really wanted to see WGTs reaction to this and post it in the forums so that everyone could see the outcome.

I agree totally. Nothing but flagrant ball theft. You can tell just by looking at the replay topspin was not applied. Have to agree with Steve... not about to question what you are saying. Some don't know better... must understand that...lol.

I will say this though.... last couple of weeks i have seen shots never seen before in my whole time playing here.

I don't think the top players hardly ever lose a ball. Might be hurting on ball sales..... so now we going to throw the wrench in there and start stealing balls from good players.

They will replace your ball for sure i promise...lol. But....... the craziness will continue. And... yes a lot of the new players are seeing this and leaving for sure. The reviews for this game left on the Golf Channel do not look good. Pretty much what you just said.

Some variance i know we got to have..... but starting to get downright stupid at times.

You will not get any WGT reaction.... replaced ball.. about it. Some excuse why hit tree,, and you were unlucky. No logical explanation for sure.    :)

I'm waiting for the super duper manipulation we going to face qualifying for Open. I got feeling last year was baby shite...lol.

Another fact that could point to this direction:  Usually a lot of players in unlimited tournaments if they mess up re-start immediately, but in the Transamerica you can not restart until you've reached hole 2 (unless you close browser and have to re-load game page once again)  The options don't appear until hole 2 so you're either forced to take the extra few shots to get to 2nd hole or go through the hassle of closing browser and having to re-start.  All these extra hits DO ADD UP!

Yes the memories, I remember how hard it was to post a 60 in the unlimited, now I'm disaapointed with a 60 in high winds and champ greens. The course plays far different today then it did then.

Yeah the memories hey?  How much that cost you in balls?  A friggen fortune. I know i qualified after you did....lol...so... i probably got you on that one.

The ball grabbing setup. OO i remember very well. The course today is not even close to how it played then. Can't even compare it really.

Then....after all that crap.... we play on quicksand greens in the first round. Got to love that stupid shite...lmao!

I have hit over this tree several hundred times and you only hit the tree when you aim much further left than this.  For this to have cost me a brand new ball is absurd.

Can't really comment on the tree hit. I always hit a draw off that tee. The bounce you got off the cart path edge has to be a billion to one bad luck chance like I've never seen before in a replay. It kicked right just far enough to go off the mini-map to create the OB lost ball. I rarely have any sympathy for any players here from reading too many sob stories but in this case, I think you should receive 1 single ball back for that. A sleeve would be more than you lost in this case. GL getting it but I vote you get one.

Hi Spammage, I am happy to see your post on this matter. Not happy to hear you of all people have experienced what the rest of us are experiencing. For the last two weeks, it has become so bad, many of the players have just stopped playing and some have even quit altogether. And the fact you are a Tour Legend at level 100, you most likely will escape the scrutiny many others have on here complaining about this issue. Guess they won't say you ride the short bus and wear  a foil hat and be accused of having an IQ 65 or lower. Let me list a few things that have been going on, and many have experienced it themselves, approach shots coming up 5 to 10 yards short, putts stop 2 inches from the hole, flop shots going 2 yards farther  than what we shot for.  I have my screen marked for all my flop shots 29 yards all the way down to 5 yards, and know what to hit in ever condition such as 40/50 rough so on and so forth. And not to  mention the dots on the greens that lie. Kiawah Island seems to be the worse. Oh yeah and the rough on the par 5 on Congressional, 41 yards out and a 40/50 rough, 8 mph tailwind ,level 80 Cleveland wedge, level 81 nike ball, hit 55 yards and it comes out like a rocket, straight in the pond. These are just a few examples of the many problems that have been occurring with many of us. What this tells me is, if that happens to someone at your level of play and experience in this game, it means that it's going to happen more often to members of a less tier level and experience. All of the shots I have mentioned, I have hit at lease a thousand times with success, and now they are some much variances in them. Common sense stays the long you play this game the better you get, practice makes perfect, doesn't seem to apply here though. As a result, many of us have stopped playing as much now and soon will stop all together. Apparently this site isn't seeing that or just don't care, but they have to be losing revenue from this type of VEM settings. I know everything I need to know about the VEM, I have researched it for days now. It is user definable and can set for each and everyone level of play, as well as make some people play better than others. They can increase and decrease the sweet spot on our clubs to make it almost impossible to ding every shot and well as the distances our clubs get from a hit or a putt. This is easy enough  to verify whether or not it's the true, just research it just as I did and some of my friends on here. So I would like to thank you for making this post. Good luck.

hitting oob due to landing on edge of road, thus going way right, is just a bad break and nothing else....

    "and nothing else"....???

Could it POSSIBLY be the Out of Bounds mapping is screwed up?

Spammage's ball is still inside the mini-map boundary!  Should be IN bounds no?

I load up a freebie ball and hit off the red tee trying to get close to where Spammage's ball ended up.  After umpteen trys, I did!

That's real, real close to where Spammage ended up OOB yet I'm still In Bounds!

Comparing the ball positions on the mini-map...

Why is Spammage's ball OOB and my ball is IN BOUNDS??  Are we not BOTH inside the mini-map?

    Theories:

    1. WGT's Out of Bounds mapping is screwed up

    2. There are different OOB mappings for premium balls than for free balls.

    3. There are different OOB mappings for Tournaments

    4. Going OOB is one of VEM's weapons and Spammage got Vemmed.

    5. .........................................                (fill in the blank)

    nice analysis andy,

to be honest, I have no idea why, but it happened. no, we do not have different oob maps or vem profiles for different players/tiers/clubs/balls..

I suspect it's just not in same spot as his ball, so while yours stayed in bounce, his did not.

the map is pretty sensitive, I am guessing but at least within 1/4" or better
