Looking for input from anyone that has this driver or has rented it.

Would like your overall thoughts on the club

I currently use the lvl 48 R1, and all the other clubs rated for 282 yards are not real impressive to me.  But, I have yet to see this club in action or hear anything about it

I am not allowed to even check it out yet so any input would be much appreciated

I was asking about the LEVEL 85

I was unaware that once I got to LEVEL 85 that I had not EARNED it, if I chose to get it.

But thanks for that, I will keep it in mind

i think what stun and roisin are so bitterly refering to is the R1 Driver. It was put out at level 98 i believe and a few months later WGT ran a propmotion in line with Taylormades promotion of a limited edition black version. WGT offered it to L93 and up, not 98, so all those high level players who felt they earned their 98 R1 felt jipped cuz now a bunch of lower  level players had it.

Assuming they think the same will happen with the L100 Covert. When WGT needs some money to pay for an office party or something they can lower the level requirement of this driver and call it a limited edition one time offer and watch the money pile up.

    Just speculating of course

EdIt: and that still doesn't answer your question about the L85 Driver. I will say this tho not sure where you are getting idea that all the other 282 drivers are not that good. I had the 89 SLDR and loved it, still have it. In some scenarios it could outdrive the 93 R1 rated 5 yards longer.  It had great precision and good forgiveness with a reasonable meter. From what I have heard the xhot at L83 is very similiar. Can't say how much better they are than your 275 R1 but I think they are better enough to take strokes off your game, just by getting you closer. Guess that all depends on how you play and what you are playing for.

    Good luck

Since moving to Legend and playing against the some of them............ haven't played against all of them tho.  I have played against guys using the lvl81 ping and the lvl83 xhot.  The lvl81 ping seems to me as not as good as what I already have.  The xhot I played against averaged 1.7 yards better over 9.

The xhot did out drive me on 2 occasions by a pretty good distance but the overall for 9 holes was 1.7 yards.  And, we were both using the lvl61 nike balls at the time

With tail wind I could see having the xhot but without it not so much.

If it pleases everyone getting so close to the LEVEL 100 nike covert, I will wait to buy the LEVEL 85 nike covert even if they put it on sale when I am at LEVEL 84.

    Will everyone be happy then?

Have not tried the Covert driver but did try the Callaway Hot X (L83) (which ha similar characteristics). Like you, I had the L48 R1. I did not see an appreciable difference between the Cally & the R1.  I waited until I could buy the Sldr and that proved to be a VERY good decision.  The Sldr puts the ball out between 296 and 310 yds (no wind) and is very forgiving.  My advice would be - wait - the R1 is a pretty darned good club.

Frankly, your irons ans wedges are more important than a bigger driver and you have about the best available right now (until you can get rhe R11 irons)!!

    Thanks Wheels65

The Slider was something i was also interested in but haven't ran into on the course since becoming a Legend.

Don't really have a problem sticking with the R1 but figured I'd ask

As far as getting the irons and wedges all of those were purchased in the last couple weeks and i have the other high level cleveland in the bag.

I plan on playing with them for a long time lol

The x-hot has to be played at full bs on all shots even against the wind. With that said - it is as long or longer at times against the SLDR. What bothers me most is the WGT not giving enough notice for new clubs coming out. I bought the x-hot at L83 as it takes me forever to tier up because of lack of play - but may have waited if I knew there would be a L85 driver coming out shortly. But, if you play the x-hot full bs it is long both in to wind and with wind and lands very softly for control. I am likely close to 90% in fw's with it if not a bit more. Any of those 3 clubs are an upgrade to the L48R1(still the best value club wgt has ever put out - man..used it for 30+ levels).
