Hi Cesar,  if you beat enough people in a higher tier you may get bumped up earlier than expected from tour pro to master, even if your average is higher than the required 67.0 (or lower) for master.  But... your average is your average, and is not affected by who you play or beat.  From what I can see in your score history your last few rounds are higher than your current average and are not going to lower it.  -Keith

Was it a Match Play round or Stroke Play?

See this is where people have problems.  Everyone is telling them one thing or another.

I'm not sure wgt knows exactly how they work it if a player beats a guy in a higher tier.

Some people say that it effects your average, some people say it doesn't.

I don't play much match play anymore but when I was a TM with a 61.50? average I beat a Legend and it changed nothing.  That didn't really bother me.

I think where people have issues is when one person can beat a Legend or person of a higher tier and go through the ranks without posting only a handful of ranked rounds.

As far as it not effecting your average:  Tell me then how a person who has a 61.00 average and has only played in 12 ranked rounds and never posted a score better than a 34 on 9 holes gets that average.  Surely it's not just because he beat higher tiered players

My club is in the middle of an inter-club game and 2 of my Tour Masters beat 2 of their Legends and they were both tiered up instantly. So it's still in operation. Hope that helps.

Looks like match play is a different animal and I can't speak from experience there. WGT states in their FAQ:

"Yes, Match Play games do affect your score average and your tier ranking. If you play a match play game against a player of higher tier and win the match your score average will be affected which could affect your tier ranking."

I take some of the statements in WGT FAQ with a grain of salt e.g. they state "completing a bad round will not negatively impact your Average Score or Tier" but I know from forum posts and experience that your average can certainly go up until you reach a "saturation" or min number of rounds for a given tier.

Out of curiosity in your case, was your round score  against the Legend significantly higher/lower than your 61.50 avg?  You triggered the condition to affect your average (winning against a higher tier player) but then perhaps you faced things like saturation or small enough differences that can't be seen.

I just can't see WGT arbitrarily dropping a player's average by some fraction as a result of winning a match to higher tiered player... although I suppose stranger things have happened.

About the only thing I can think of is:  were these results based on matches that did not trigger the necessary condition: winning against a higher tiered player?  Maybe so, if 68 is the best of the lot.  Another thought is that these strange stats may have been flagged by WGT and so it would be hard to explain how avg was affected.
