On your high spec PC Gerald open up the task manager, click the performance tab, double click in the graph, stretch the graph to fit the width of the screen and just leave the PC to idle for 5-10 minutes with no programs running. If the graph shows a lot of activity then you have some programs running in the background which may need investigatiing.

The above graph shows my PC recording a TV programme, running a scan and viewing the forum, hence the high CPU activity.
If you have high CPU activity, then double in the graph if you have the view above, to bring the tabs back into view. Click the Processes tab to show what is running.
