it looks like ......
the putting / chip pitch grid appears only when within about 50 yards of the green
I tested and confirmed this^ to be true. Also, we have to click on the putter first and make the green grid appear as if we're going to use the putter from within 50 yards. After that, click on pitch, chip or flop to see our "normal" grid for those shots. Don't know why but it appears to be the case. Seems like we have to wake up the green grid first or it doesn't work from any distance away from the pin while off the green. I figure within a day or two, I'll be used to this workaround like so many of the others.
"IMO"... this is going to hurt new players the most. The long timers with tons of rounds played have a pretty good idea of the topography of every green when needing to get up and down and from fairway approaches. The newer players won't have that course knowledge built up yet and won't be able to see the green breaks before they hit approach shots from outside of 50 yards. Me thinks WGT needs to make a tutorial on how to "wake up" the green grid and send an e mail link notification to all members ASAP. Unless of course they find a way to reverse this ASAP. ;)
I will add to this if I may?
Once you "waken" the grid up by changing to putt mode, you can then see the grid from 200yds out, yes, I smacked the ball all the way back up the fairway to test it lol
So the lesson is easy, change to putt mode and the grid should "waken" and then appear in pitch mode after that.
I think this bug will be repaired but if not, at least those that use the grid from distance now have a workaround.
Luckily, this doesnt affect me but I can see how it may upset some folk.
