Well after numerous rounds I have to say ,I'm kinda  disappointed in the new Nike ball (700 credit Black ) distance seems to be all over the place compared to the Nike (L71 ) ball. Due to winning a few CC tourneys I have acquired quite a few .Very very sad face

I agree 100%.  Perhaps the extra distance is negated because of the added spin but you're right. My yardage is way outta whack.  I think i'll be going back to the lvl 81's.

One thing I am is a hard worker here, I will give my report on the black ball as it's the only 1 of the new balls I have tried. I don't mind wasting a few credits on the mulligans and the rg's to map a new ball either. I'm never going to get to the gift card anyway.

My early tests were indicating yardage was all the place as well, but after a few more burned balls I can say, they still are.LOL.

One of the reasons these things are at level 90 IMHO is you cannot slam the spin down or approximate the spin and go with these things, 1 pixel of spin can have a dramatic effect on the distance on some of the clubs. Up to 5 yards per pixel, on some holes in some winds.

The wind as well does not have nearly the same effect depending on spin as the other balls did, the wind tools etc were close enough before, not with these balls. Now you can easily be miles away and sit and scratch your head.

These balls need their own wind and distance charts and mapped per pixel of spin if you are into extreme accuracy. Anybody caring to put in that much effort will be eventually rewarded.

Side wind can play havoc as well, which makes playing the ball more difficult if you are expecting 1 wind and get another. IMHO this ball gives another tool in the WGT bag to shoot your ball into some far off land when you least expect it.

I have spent the better part of 18 hours mapping these things and I'm maybe 50% of the way there.

Also the wtf's are maybe less often then the 81 ball but far more extreme.

My final points in summary, it's a good ball with a good meter, I just don't see the scores coming down as a result of it, just to many factors regarding these winds that will play havoc on this ball. It will be so easy for a round to be ruined when you expect 60 feet of wind movement and get 10 or 120.

Well I guess I'll go back to KIa f9 with a 1mph wind and see if I can dial these babies back in. If anyone would like to share what they have on these balls with the Nike irons that would be great.

    Thanks

I am going to basically concur here- the black Nikes are split personality of "wow" as well as 'WTF" and it will take some serious mapping efforts to fully exploit their potential. There are a few- emphasis on few- approach shots where the spin is a godsend. You can stop where no man (or woman) has stopped before. In general- they are less forgiving the more spin you apply- but that is true for level 81 Nikes, for example- just think "on steroids" like everything else with this ball.

The distance can be noticeable- but it isn't consistently longer than anything else. the meter is nice - but makes me lazier and more likely to off ding, not on purpose. the ball putts true and has a lively feel- but all that is quite subjective. If you use full bs on long/middle irons, expect it to play shorter. If you usually 'ding' sidewinds successfully- err on the side of the wind.

Like any equipment here- if you learn it you will succeed. Is this ball a game changer- not yet IMO. Potential? - undecided. If you already play either level 81 Nike ball- your adjustment/learning curve will be shorter. For others- it will take some getting used to.

I have not given up on this ball, but in competition- for now- I am sticking with the 81's.

Well IMO the L90 black one is a fantastic ball.  Brilliant job whether it's something the game needs or worth the price or not.

If you are going to use it then may as well exploit the spin.  Yep sure expect very differing results with ultra tiny dot movements, also especially ferocious spin fbs (edit: with L97 irons anyway) off the tee and so yes of course careful mapping is needed.  In return it's ultra consistent, and I don't think will WTF you any more than the L81 ball.  Driver wise it's usually no longer that the L81 ball, and sometimes shorter but they are both way long enough anyway.

All that said just trundled round a BoF windy CC comp in 28 with the L34 Cally.  Great little ball with a nice slow meter for putting.  Game changer? Makes you wonder.  Once the top players get it dialed in it has the potential to allow WGT to drop the qualifying score for any Virtual Open, and so revenue changing certainly if the plan works - love the conspiracy stuff.  Personally, great job as it is, I do not think the actual game wanted it.

I like them. I'm slowly starting to get used to the spin on these. I think the big selling point on these is the slower meter. For me the meter is very controllable as opposed to L81's. L81's are nice but the meter is just a little too fast for me resulting in a few bad misses per game. Like many, I was resorting to  using the "X" balls which are great but they don't have the distance and spin of Nike's. This black ball is the best of both worlds and your paying for it big time. Now I just need to get a raise to pay for these.

No doubt- and so are all the Nike balls-fantastic, especially the higher level ones. I would say if R11's were still top dog irons, this ball would be perfect. In the spin dept. you would have a match with the Nike97/Nike81 combo. You would have a meter similar to the Nike 97 irons with the level 81 ball- and you would have a bit of distance advantage. It might very well be most advantageous to newer Legends or anyone not at level 97.

I think the jury is still out whether Nike irons and this ball are an ideal combo. Or with CG wedges for that matter. Driver- hell ya. 3 wood- you bet. top irons and wedges- remains to be seen how much spin is- well- more than enough.

In the past I always wondered why various peoples wind and club and distance charts never worked for me, I was like, WTH could I be doing that is so different then anybody else. Should not no spin top spin and full bs be the same for everyone if using the same ball and clubs. Should a 6mph wind not have the same effect across the board. Answer: not even remotely close. Variation can be as high as 5 yards or greater, that's a difference to a par and a birdie.

Unfortunately you have to do all the work all by your lonesome, IMHO it's a mistake to use someone else's work,  it just does not match your own results and would do you no favors.

Insane!  I went back to 81's.  I'd like to give a shout out to wgt for wasting my time and money.  These balls are garbage.
