New to the Game, not really....Thanks!!!

  Members,

  Playing a good year now, love this game!  I play like a machine from Friday - Sunday watching golf and playing. Want to say, took some time reading a bunch of blogs on the weekend, after completing Tour Pro Tier.

  What an amazing place!  I have played folks from all over the world (early mornings, England, Scotland, France and South Africa) and during the late afternoon (US and Canada)...just want to say thanks... Made my goal, took long enough! 

  I've got a decent bag, but hey if you have suggestions, let me know!

  Congrats to your promotion - well deserved!

  Looking into your bag I'm afraid to miss the most important items IMHO:

  Two decent short wedges!

  These Starter wedges are a real PITA, low trajectory, low spin and inconsistant shooting cost a lot of fun and quite a few strokes.

  Also, put the long Ping wedge (90 yds?) at disposal, because the gap to the PW might become (or be now) too big for equidistant spacing of full and punch shots.

  There are different main spacing concepts in the wedge shop:

  50 - 75/77 - 100 by ATV (and the top MAX, unavailable to you)

  60 - 80 - 100 by Cleveland

  60 - 75 - 90 by Ping and the medium MAX

  What to choose? Difficult.

  "Problem" is, there are supporters for ATV, Cleveland and top MAX - it's up to personal preference obviously.

  One reasonable step for now might be the lvl 39 ATV, 50+77 yds. They fit well under your Ping wedge. This leaves the choice of 100 yds between ATV (lvl 86) and Cleveland (lvl 76). Or, go now for the high level Clevelands, the choice of many top players.

  Wow -- thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.  I will digest everything your saying and work to get the wedges you suggest.

  Right now, playing a lot at very fast greens and some great players trying to get my average down. 

  What a challenge going from 71.4 to 92.5 in a week!  Lots of work to do...

  went all out and bought some Cleveland wedges....also got a great putter   got 3 free nike balls for spending it...thanks all!!!

  Oh - I'm afraid you bought too cheap - these clubs are not of the quality I had in mind.

  In any case, drop that $%&$§ Starter wedge, reinstall the Ping if still available, or a lvl 76 Cleveland wedge of 100 yds.

  Do you have any additional wood in the inventory except for the Starters?

  Hi Kevin, what a refreshing attitude you have! Every tier brings new challemges, just continue to enjoy.

  I wont mention the clubs as you have already bought some clubs, but also ask in your CC Forum in the future for advice. Your in a great CC with some great members, whom I am sure they would happily give advice - not only on clubs but game tips etc.

  As a rule with clubs, try and keep the meter speeds across all clubs similar as this makes it a little easier to hit the ding (or close) on a consistent basis.

  I do like my new clubs....just need to get used to them...

  My budget is where it is at unfortunately for now.

  Let me get some more rounds in and I will post and ask for advice when I head back to the pro shop!

  Yes, interesting CC....we are all connected vets but there are SO MANY very good players, way above what I am at.  Played a round and the way it was set up, you'd have to a TM or Legend to do well.  I can't rank up playing courses that are that difficult.

  Me thinks that ranking up is not the primary goal - at least it shouldn't be.

  1st goal to me is having fun - it's leisure, recreation, isn't it?

  At this point, money lurks in (FOG is only an advertising slogan):
  How much are you able and willing to invest for the fun? 2 or 5 $ per month may be a start, or some time for "free credits" - 10 bucks have payed for me long time, the equivalent of 3 beers or 2 packs of cigarettes.

  2nd is improving the skills, and for this, there is an enormous profit from better players. They show you where to place the balls, CC mates usually like to share their knowledge of shot options etc., and the results will improve soon. And, while putting on faster greens may look impossible in the beginning, you'll soon learn it and take profit on the regular greens, too.

  3rd would be gaining experience (points) - they are a necessary precondition of better equipment and save money for intermediate equipment.

  4th would be better scores, eventually resulting in tier advancement. Then you'd need better equipment...

  As I said, you have some very good players, but more importantly, some great people. They will share knowledge, trust me.

  You learn from better players if you are willing to learn. Do not be put off by playing someone at a higher tier, especially if they give you some hints. 

  I have no chance in my CC Tournaments but that does not deter me from playing and doing my best - and I will card any score. I have offered to send a bottle of scotch (providing the drink it all prior to playing) tying their hands behind their back and blindfolding them, and I still lose, but I have FUN.

  Some of us will never be great at this game, but for me it is about enjoyment and I will have just as much fun playing with anyone providing they are  pleasant. If you want a game and time zones match, I will happily have a game with you, and give any tips you want.
