I am about to make level 48 and thinking of picking up a new driver.  I plan on getting the G20 irons at 59 and wondering if I should get the R1 at lvl 48 or just wait until lvl 59 and get the whole club set of G20s.   Is the R1 really that much better than the G20?  any advice?

That's a very good question CJ.  A very simple and is YES, get the 48 driver...it is one of the best lower level drivers that can take you to Legend. I used that driver longer than any other driver.  Great forgiveness, long(275+) for those short tee's and great accuracy.   And the 59 irons are solid irons and they will also get you to Legend.  You cant beat those 2 choices CJ...

You are hitting from TP tees, your driving average is pretty good. Your GIR and your 21 feet from the hole average is what is killing you.

A driver with a little more distance may set you up for better approaches. A much more longer distance driver, hitting from your tees, may help BUT may also get you in lots of trouble.

In my opinion, the level 58-59 full Ping G20 set is where you should be aiming, which is what I did. As far as right now, I would replace your current driver with a long 3W and use it for both driving and fairway shots. You can then remove your current driver, 3W and hybrid, and add one more wedge.

It is your 2nd-3rd shots that are taking you out of birdie range. Thats where I would be looking to improve.

    Cheers.

I would for now recommend getting the Low level R11 3W, goes 2 yards longer than the Starter driver, to add to the last post, and it only costs 395c.

I had both at one time...the G20 is harder to control because of high trajectory which helps on a few holes, but not enough to buy it over TM lvl 48(it's a he!! of a driver)

Just looked at your clubs...you wont need the hybrid from those tees with that driver, get a 3rd wedge and a decent 3wd, for sure the wedge...and with the clubs your going to buy your wasting money on that Nike ball...those iron are very  erratic(I had them too) with higher spin balls and the clubs don't put enough spin on it to hold the elevated greens...go with a cheaper Calloway and get better results, no need for a 5 distance ball from those tees.

ok thanks for the advice...I am just using that ball because I got free ones when i purchased credits for the promotion a couple weeks back.  From what i've read, the g20s are very good irons for the level....what irons would you reccommend before level 60?

G20s, or if you to get ready for faster meters, the L32 R11s.

Wait until you get to the G20's, anything you get before hand will be obsolete. Improve/work on your approaches, wedge shots and putting until then.

Guys, I hate to beg, But if anyone can give away a Ping driver, fairway wood, or hybrid I would be elated. Im puting together a set of Pings and I realy need one. So if anyone can help I would love It.  I myself beleve that the Ping driver would be a very good choice over the R1 driver. I have a Ping set of irons and a Ping putter and they play vary good for me. But its up to you. Please answer soon. Thank alot
