I really would like WGT to build a new ball sleeve that would allow an individual to stack balls in a particular order and allow them to drop into place once one ball is used.  It is very difficult to use balls not knowing how much usage is left on each ball and no ability to change balls during a game.  We should have the option to change balls during a game unless it is during a tournament.  Just normal play one should be allowed to go to any balls available not just the standard balls.

    Thank you,

    Sincerely,

    Dennis Brown (browniedc)

    TopShelf2010:
Or was your suggestion referring to prior to playing and simply looking at your inventory?

I think this was it, and is a very valid point. That said we are given the choice of purchasing more if it is the last ball.

    TopShelf2010:
If I understand the USGA Rules correctly, the only way a player is allowed to change their ball during play, is if the ball is visibly damaged.

Kind of, you can change balls between holes or if damaged (eg a cut not just scuffed) but only for the exact type.model of ball.

I think the OP is asking why can he not use another type of ball - use the search function and you will find one or two answers to this.

    Why do you think so?

Before entering the game, you see the type and no. of balls available in your bag. Change in the inventory or buy more in the Pro Shop without a hustle.

Starting the game or when loosing one, you are informed and asked to buy if you're on the last one. This one-click-buy button is my favourite - it can't be easier to stock up.

If that fails, you can still visit the Pro Shop - unthinkable in a real game!

The only downside is, you have no choice of a different type. These are the conditions of the game, no "it should be" to your liking.

    Get used to it!

Hell if I lose a ball in real life golf I have the option of getting whatever ball I want out of my bag on the course, not a "range" ball or starter ball so I have to agree with Browniedc.

That's the thing, you only have one type of ball in your bag.  When you select your equipment you are placing the clubs and balls you want to take with you for that round into your bag.  There is only one slot for balls.  Realistically you shouldn't be allowed to play on with the free ones, you should have to leave the course.

    Alosso gets it:

You do not have all those different balls with you on the course, just the one type you selected.

    QFT.

Or stated another way, we can only equip ourselves with 1 make/model of ball per round, and the type of round is irrelevant, so it applies to practice rounds too.
