Because it would be pointless to have one...I would be bored after hitting 4 drives..not too mention WGT would surely charge a fee,or just hits on your golf balls would be reason enough not to have one with the cost of Golf balls these days!!!

    Why Isn't it needed?

Plenty of players would love a driving range so they can nail the yardages of new clubs with particular balls and experiment with distances and spin.  Just because you might be happy playing your games there's plenty of others who want a driving range rather than having to re-load say Kiawah 1 over and over to find out how far their 165 iron goes with full spin and nilke level 81 balls go.

WGT are probably protecting themselves by not providing one,  It would be chaos in the forums when players hit their clubs on driving range and find out say the 210 iron goes 220 yards with Nike balls with no spin so when it only goes 212 yards on a particular hole there would be players shouting and whining all over the forums "deviaiton, deviation & more deviation, with a bit of VEM thrown in as well"

In practice mode and using mulligans, every course becomes a driving range and a practice putting green..

A driving range isn't needed because we can use practice rounds to practice - sand shots, chips, pitches, flops, and hitting from rough, fringe, etc.

I rarely play practice rounds. Instead I play ranked rounds.

For real golf I used the driving range to work on swing mechanics more than for defining the distance each club could hit the ball. Here on WGT there are so many variables during play that add or subtract shot distance that I'm a firm believer that playing is more valuable than practice.

    This!

and there's nobody who might be held up by poor pace of play. Feel yourself at home for an hour, a day and more on the course, start over as long as you like it - no complaints to expect except from your beloved.

Icon once said, players would become too good with a range - outdated or not?

if everyone know how to hit shots , then people will be stop playing. ready go will be bloodsport if everyone at same level.

To get more info you have to spend more time.

I am lazy i too want range of sort where i can practice putt where i can place two marker so it does not go to next hole once ball goes to hole.

That said , i understand why they do not provide things that make you undederstand how game engine work.

indeed it would be chaos if every player did this so for now lets just leave you to do it on a regular basis
