    quakerdarlo:

Good idea to introduce brackets for C/C tourneys....but....the timings options are too harsh....maybe 24 48 72 hours per round...might be very hard to find 16 members all on to play in 30 min rounds...

    Q.

You may be misunderstanding the time..

If a 24 hour bracket is chosen, the first round needs to be played withing 24 hours of the last player entering.

ONce that 24 hours is over, the 2nd round begins, with 24 hours to play Round two...and so on through the final round.

If effect, each player just plays 1 round per day.

Plus, with larger clubs like Courteney's CC, this might really help having that option for quickies. Our CC is small so it's not practical but 1 round a day should be a non issue.

Anyone know if a CC Bracket Tourney takes up one of the available 10 slots, or are these in addition?

And if an addition, is there a limit to how many can be run at any one time?

    Thanks,

    Steve

They do count as one of your ten. It's time that they doubled it.

That's a shame - 10 free slots is just not enough for an active CC.

Yes, doubling it up to 20 would be a very good idea, specially as we now have brackets to fit into the schedule too.

that's a good idea. i'll add it on my list.

I'm rather disappointed that it wasn't on your list already. I have asked before and recently started a thread on it.

I can't be the only CC owner that asked for this in our chats with WGT. It should be on everyone's list there.

    troubles with CC Brackets...

set up 3 in our CC, but when you click the link, it says there are no tourneys for this club :-(((

However, just tried looking again, and the tourneys DO appear for a split second, before the "No Tourneys" message appears.

    SNAFU again :-(

    Initially this:

    Immediately followed by this:

Edit: just found that I CAN access these tourneys if I go via the CC Homepage, and follow the Club Tournaments link. Still no show via the Game Client though :-(

    YankeeJim:

Ahhh, but there are different levels of green speeds within each designation. You can see it in the qualifying at Pinehurst-the green speeds are called Championship but are not the same every day. In fact, the PH greens are not true Championship speeds, rather something slower.

When tiers are mixed, such as in AS or All Players tournaments, you're going to see a hybrid speed based on the mixture. If Legends putt on a 12 and TLs putt on a 13, together they putt on something in between like 12.5, 12.6, etc. You also see this routinely change during the week in the WGT tournaments.

I guess we'll now all be able to see what you've been saying Jim.  Or not.

I always wondered how you determined the speeds were somewhere in-between.  Was it based on the first few putts of a round?  "OK that went 3ft past so the greens are faster as it should have ended 18 inches past."  Is that how?

Did you ever consider what you could be seeing is the distance deviation built into the putters?  Look at bhoese's putter precision tests.  A flat 20 foot putt hit exactly at the same 15 feet of power had a spread of 1 to 1.5 feet (depending on the putter).   So a 13 stimpmeter green could look like a 12.5 to 13.5 stimpmeter green just due to the putter's deviation.

Mixed tier events-you know going in they aren't going to be an exact number. Chad laid that out in a chat session and BiB quoted it  last week. Heh-you and I have argued about it before, too.   ;-)

Yes and that's exactly what players have been griping about forever. I suspect this new rating addition will alleviate that. I've always operated under the assumption that deviation doesn't enter into putting-the precision and balance of a putter takes care of that. There are plenty of variables in putting to not have to use deviations.

For me, yes, pretty much the first few putts told me whether the greens were as advertised or not.  Champ often play the same as legend tourney, legend tourney play like TM tourney.

I love having stimpmeter ratings, so long as they've been properly implemented.  I assume championship greens will be from 11 to 12 or something?  We'll actually be able to tell which speed we have before the first putt.

The wind range is also a good addition.  I've only encountered medium winds with 19-21 or 17-19.  Pretty easy to deal with that.  I hope heavy wind has more variation.

I think this is a very good step in the direction of more realism and realistic scores.
