Guessing its acting as a step meter like the PGA tour does, green speed basically.

If it is, its stimp meter, or the firmness of the greens, ball is dropped on green from a certain distance and the bounce off the green is measured.

Not exactly. Stimp measures green speed. Its a metal rail or plank with a notch in it. You place the ball in the notch and lift th erail up slowly until the ball falls out of the notch, rolls down the rail, onto the green and across the green. You measure how many feet the ball rolls from the edge of the rail to where it stops. Ideally you find the flattish parts of greens so you don't have elevation change affecting it and should do multiple ball rolls on either all of the greens or a good portion of them and take the average.

Assistant superintendent at a course I worked did it every morning after we mowed an did any other management practices on the greens, like spraying them, rolling them, verticutting, topdressing, etc.

    Some sample photos

Good guess - But not even close.

Stimpmeter - from above - Have a look at this.

Still getting kicked out of Multi-player games..........................

Can you fix this before adding a lot of simple things..

    1. Where is the timer when you get kicked out a game?

2.Coming back into a game is non-existant because you have not returned in time?

Come WGT get this fixed its becoming a problem ok!

You're thinking of a Bouncemeter, most commonly used when casting new female roles for Baywatch.

I really can't help wondering how such mis-imformation gets out there.  No offence to you Nick, but this is like telling someone a speedometer tells you how many feet above sea level your car currently is.
