One thing it does clear up is the difference between the tournament green speeds for Tour Masters and Legends. Before, these were both shown as Tourmament, but now they're shown as Tournament 12, for a Legend and Tournament 11 for a Tour Master. (As pointed out by Jim).

If you ever come back Davester9, see, we were right all along.

    Label Speed
    Range
    Slow 7.4
    Standard 7.9
    Fast 8.0 to 9.9
    Very Fast 10.0 to 10.9
    Tournament 11.0 to 12.9
    Championship

    13.0

These are green speeds I determined in 12/2013.

    mantis0014:
Is there a number of Stimpmeter ratings for each Green Speed.

Little confused here, Roger.  Your answer is in the list I posted from WGT right before you posted this. Do you mean can there be variations within the named speeds? If so, then yes, there can be.

    mantis0014:
There is a Champ-13 which is the slowest.

    Think you mean fastest.

One thing that might help is to drop the "name" of the speed and just go with the new numbers.

Sorry Jim....   Yes, I meant, is there a range for each Green Speed..  I know there is Tourny 11,12.

Just seen the other reply which gives the range for each green speed.

Also Champ-13  is the slowest Champ Speed.

I played Shoe's comp he started awhile back and that Champ speed was like lightning...lol

Not sure about dropping the names though...  I still go by Champ..Tourny...etc.  One good thing the numbers gives us is that we would know if it's normal Tourny speed or slower tourny speed.

Nothing has changed cwaits, the speeds are still the same as they were, just ignore the numbers if they're confusing.

It actually has cleared things up.

Before if you went to a round played under tournament green speed, it could be Legend Tournament or Tour Master's Tournament and even those have a variety of speed.

Now you know exactly what it is.  If championship has a 13 and a 14, it tells you which you are playing rather than you having to try to figure out which it is.  If you assume that championship averages 13.5 then you know to be more firm when the 13 is up and a little less when the 14 is up.   Same at every level.

I might be in the minority but I like both the new green speed definition and the showing of winds as a range, we always knew both the greens speeds varied and the winds were not exactly as stated, now they have confirmed that.   Nothing in the play of the game has changed at all, we just have better information.

I believe Tournament greens are the only ones with two different stimpmeter readings. 11 for Tour Master Tournament greens, and 12 for Legend Tournament greens. I think all other descriptive speeds only have one specific stimpmeter reading.
