Looking on the bright side, we lasted longer than Spain.

LOL...........I wonder what % of players at that tournament play in the EPL.  Apart from the one who just slotted two past us (:

Google not too forthcoming with that stat. but it's probably out there somewhere. Best I could find is that there are 124 players from English and Welsh clubs. Some of those play outside of the Premier League though. Second is the Italian League with 81.

There will be no England bashing from me. They played 20 minutes of good football in the 180 minutes so far. That's more good play than Scotland have managed in the last 20 years.

Looks like I will be drinking indoors for a while. I live in Scotland, won't be able to show my face in the pub for a few days at least. Had to turn my phone off after the first goal, too many texts from A.B.E. supporters.

LOL i feel for ya mate :)

I live in Australia, and so will I be lol.

So once again possibly the most watched league on the planet produces an early exit England team.  At least this time we looked exciting often...well when not actually shooting for goal or getting caught out in defense, lol.  A math miracle could still save save us I guess, as unlikely and ill deserved as that would be.

Yeh which is basically Italy beating Costa Rica and Uruguay, follwed by us beating Costa Rica 2-0(That's assuming Italy beat them 2-0 tomorrow).HMM can't see that happening tbh.

Just getting in there before the English bashing takes place ay Johnny :)

No 'English bashing' from me, Russ - I'll leave that to the Italians, Uruguayans, and quite possibly, in the not too distant future, any Costa Ricans that may happen to stumble upon this thread.

I well understand your pain btw, but highlighting the failures of other nations won't change a thing - England have taken exactly what they've deserved from this World Cup so far - nothing.

Both teams playing against England so far have shown more heart for the battle. England have failed in that department - found that most surprising.

A defence that looks like a bombscare waiting to happen.

A keeper more interested in styling his eyebrows then anything to do with football.

A team devoid of any imagination other than the odd glimpses from Messrs. Sturridge & Sterling - thought he was a tad fortunate at times not to pick up a 2nd yellow card tonight.

Poor Steven Gerard. Watching him was the same as watching some of the elder Spanish players the other day - sell by date well past in terms of international football. How the television  pundits laughed at their demise - karma can be cruel at times, don't you think?

The highlight for me is listening to the commentators. 1-0 down and they round on Rooney, he scores and the question of who England will meet in the final is suddenly valid.

Best of all though is the Adrian Chiles chap , actual comedy gold btw.

How Gus Poyet managed to refrain from wetting himself  when answering questions from that clown was a joy to watch.

The EPL is touted by many as the best in the world and in monetary terms it may well be. In purely football terms it's all down to the imported players such as Suarez etc.

Be honest Russ, the Rooney goal tonight  only papered over the obvious cracks.

Not so Lil Wayne will probably be hounded out of England just like Beckham - IMO a great player and a fine ambassador for his country.

Sky TV has been harping on about how the expectation levels and media attention were just that bit lower than previous attempts to end all the years of hurt - they've kept telling us so - 24 hrs a day.

I await the Sun's inevitable front page picture of 'Woy' with the World Cup's own 'head in hand'  logo superimposed over his face.

Chin up maybe the Italians will do you a favour.

Good point.  Take the Bundesliga . Financially small fry compared to the massive EPL finances, but that forces them to introduce home grown talent, and they seldom put in a poor show.

To this day I have never seen Scotsman sorry to see England get royally stuffed, lol.

A sorry state of affairs for England when all you have to relly on is Ricky Lambert.  Another media hyped player who is basically championship quality hyped into a world stage...LOL  (same as lalana ha hana)  Liverpool are so dumb, they sell Andy carroll only to replace him by a older model.

And who is jagielka?  Another hyped up failure.  How long do you think Roy Hodgson the blundering ditherer will last in his job after [plane lands home.  maybe poach Martinez from Everton to nurture more over rated kids like Barkley...lololll

Steven gerrard needs to be handed a gun.  At fault fior Liverpools league demise and Englands exit..  in the reject bin please.  Compare him to Pirlo were the media the other day.  Ouch, my sides are hurting.

Jordan Henderson another player running around like a headless chiken messing things up.  Should have swapped him for Wilshire before half time.

    Costa Rica 2 V England 0

Think of the cost Its taken to send those failures on a 5 star holiday to Brazil whilst there are people starving around the world.  At times like these I'm glad I'm WELSH..LOLO)LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOOLOL

Don't get me wrong our side are no world beaters far from it,and i totally agree our defence has been poor at best,my reference to England bashing was light hearted as come on you've taken the piss enough about the England team and there chances of qualifying, which i took also in a light hearted fashion.I always maintained we'd scrape through our group and lose next round(got that wrong huh lol)

I don't believe Rooney will be made a scapegoat, like Beckham was,who was wrongly villified for  getting sent off in 1 match. The blame will squarely be put on Gerrard and Jagielka you watch(again wrong but they were imo to blame for both goals tonight)

If i was being honest England do have a fair way to go,but hopefully the young players will shine over next couple of years just in time for the next WC.Our main problem is most certainly in defence.

But going back to tonight's game, and i'm not making excuses but i thought the refereeing was a tad onesided against England imo, never gave us virtually anything, somehow allowed the Uruguay cpt to stay on the pitch which was beyond me.But we were undone by 2 quality goals by Suarez(no complaints there) Wenger impression coming up now,as i never saw the 2nd offence Sterling made, was probably picking my mrs up then, and btw also missed the England goal to boot lol.I did watch the replay and tbh even Johnsons cross was pretty poor with little pace.I personally thought a draw was a fair result giving that on another day Rooney would of had a Ht,but we were also lucky not to concede 3 goals in 1st 10 mins of 2nd half.I also bet big Sam will be kicking himself lol as he plays the same style of football as the Uruguayans did tonight(the route 1 approach)

Oh btw we all know Adrian Chiles is a c.o.c.k lol
